There were some good performances from Chiltern athletes at the Southern Cross Country Championships at Beckenham on Saturday. Although the club only completed one team, there were some great runs and several inside the top fifty in the various races. Conditions were good at Beckenham Place Park with a dry, clear day and the courses ran fairly firm despite recent rain. The U15 Boys were first off and featured the club’s only complete team of the day. Harrison Lawrence led the team home in 88th and the other scorers were John Rooney (106th), Josh Woodward (128th) and Isaac Taylor (167th). Hector Gamblen was 205th. The team were 18th.
Chloe Willson was an excellent 25th in the U13 Girls race, and Sunaya Nanda (45th) and Emilia Ingham (100th) also had good runs. There were also three Chiltern finishers in the U13 Boys with Barnaby Williams 103rd, Jack Dalton 110th and Thomas Cooper 167th. Nell Frost continued her recent good form to finish an impressive 17th in the U15 Girls race with Juliette MacDougall running well to be 50th. Chiltern’s U17 men had finished highly in some of the autumn relays but had a depleted team on Saturday. James Henderson had to drop out pre-race through injury and James Holdsworth had to drop out midrace. However Tom Ford ran well for 15th and Edward Johnson also did well for 20th. Aidan Suleyman was 148th. The last Chiltern interest was Jocelyn Davies who ran well with a strong finish for 22nd in the U20 Women’s race. Good Evening, Race Report fans. You’ll have to forgive me, as this is going to be something of an admin-heavy report this evening. Rabbie Burns would be turning in his grave.
An excellent turnout of 104 athletes helped contribute to a fantastic win for Chiltern Harriers at the fourth Chiltern Cross Country League fixture on Saturday at Cassiobury Park. There were team wins for the U13 Girls, U15 Girls, and the Veteran Men and there were a host of great runs contributing to the overall win. On a cold, grey day conditions were reasonable after a frosty Christmas and very rainy week. The U11 Girls were fourth after good scoring runs from Ezrayah Latham (fifth), Martha Stanley (13th), and Marni Ison-Stierer (21st). Also running well were Jemima Barnes (28th) and Ida Goldman (34th). Further good efforts came from the U11 Boys who were fifth. Scorers were Kit Reynolds (12th), Evan Atkinson (23rd) and Oliver Dixon (30th), and the increasingly large team was completed by Freddy Higgins (34th), Jacob Harris (36th), Oliver Vandenbrekel (41st), Ethan Brown (45th), Oliver Ingham (56th), and Joseph Holdsworth (57th).
Chloe Willson was second on the day to confirm her status as U13 Girls Division 1 champion for the season. Sunaya Nanda had a great run to be third and Lottie Monnington (10th) and Emilia Imgham (11th) completed the team that took their first team win of the campaign. Amelia Hanstein also ran well for 43rd. The girls win on the day moved them up to third overall. There was a good team effort from the U13 Boys to be third on the day. William Clasby led the team home in ninth, and the other scorers were Barnaby Williams (15th), Jack Dalton (16th) and newcomer Harvey Cartledge (21st). Strong runs also came from Thomas Cooper (25th), Jack Dixon (26th), Jonathan Kalibbala (32nd), James Woodgate (48th) and Toby Moore (57th). A second team win of the day came from the U15 Girls with Maya Davis having her best run of the season to be third. Juliette MacDougall was fifth, Annie-Rose Quantrill tenth, and Holly Knott 19th. Mala Bahia was 23rd, and Amelia Qasam made a good debut to be 31st. The girls go into the final match in third spot. The big U15 Boys squad again did well and were fourth on the day. The scorers were Isaac McCall (17th), Jack Rogers (25th), Harrison Lawrence (27th), and Toby Reynolds (28th). Close behind were Jacob McCall (29th), Colin Miles (31st), Isaac Brown (32nd), Isaac Taylor (33rd), Kit Dixon (39th), Hector Gamblen (43rd), and Oliver Atkinson (45th). The Junior Women were second and were led home by Alex Whitfield, who had her best finish in the league to be fourth. The scoring was completed by Emily Ford (11th) and Lucinda McRonald (15th). More good runs came from Jocelyn Davies (23rd), Megan Lockwood (24th), Lara Milburn (28th), Lydia Cross (35th), and Izzy McFetrich (40th). The U17 Men were light on their usual big numbers but still did enough to be second and keep their league lead. Tom Ford in second and Edward Johnson in fourth scored big points and Ben Reeder (15th) and Zach Cleary (17th) made up the team. James Henderson was 24th and Charlie De Sousa was 30th. A huge Senior Women’s team had a stellar day with Soraya Lockwood taking the individual win and Bev Whitfield running excellently for third. The scoring was completed by Charlotte Docwra (23rd), Katie Royals (33rd), Ellie Bates (36th), and Alice Brown (37th). The team were second on the day. Also contributing were, deep breath, Jessie Keighley (43rd), Carys Evans (44th), Lauren Mayot (51st), Jenny Bizley (56th), Abi Askey (61st), Helen Cholawo (62nd), Cath Holloway (65th), Sylvia Moss (77th), Sue Slade (98th), Lindsay Turner (102nd), Heidi Folkard (107th), Miriam Kempson (137th), Caroline Stevens (138th), Tamsin Finch (145th), and Fiona Calder (156th). The Vet quartet were second thanks to Bev, Ellie, Lauren, and Jenny. The Senior Men’s team was very strong and saw the ten scorers all in the top forty, one of the best showings we’ve had in the league. Alex Aldred led the way in eighth and was backed up by great packing from Aran Davidson (12th), Cameron Reid (15th), Daire Stack (19th), Nick Hughes (21st), Matt Whitfield (24th), Adam Shute (29th), Alex Hughes (34th), James Turner (35th), and Tim Lawrence (40th). The team was narrowly second behind a big Bedford turnout. Also running well were Callum Powell (45th), Tom Dixon (55th), Rory Hilton (78th), Jonny Slade (95th), Daniel Munn (109th), Russell Vandenbrekel (145th), Jon Taylor (166th), Alan Crozier (182nd), Andrew Channer (201st), David De Sousa (207th), Ed Wright (208th), Glen Martin (216th), and Stuart Henderson (234th). The Vet team had a good win with Nick, Matt, Adam, and James scoring. Nick Hughes was first Vet 50 and Matt third Vet 40. The club have a 600-point lead going into the final fixture but will still need a good turnout to secure the overall win. The last match is Saturday February 7th at Stopsley Park, Luton. Good Evening, Race Report fans and welcome to your first report of 2026. In my view, its (almost) never too late to wish people a Happy New Year. I hope you had a wonderful festive season.
First of all, huge thanks to those who gave up their time to marshal yesterday at the Chiltern League in Watford. As a Club we get so much out of our participation in the league and so it is great that we fulfil our obligation and give back. Well done to all who ran and watch out for Steve P’s report. Buckinghamshire Cross Country Championships A cold, bright winter day was the backdrop for the 2026 Buckinghamshire Cross Country Championships. The meeting, in conjunction with the Bedfordshire Championships, took place at Southill Park near Biggleswade, with mostly flat but tussocky courses that required plenty of concentration and a boggy section that was energy sapping. There was plenty of success for Chiltern teams and individuals. There were individual wins for Sunaya Nanda (U13 Girls), Jack Turner (U20 Men), and Katie Repper (Senior Women); and team wins for the U13 Girls, U15 Girls, Senior Women, and Senior Men. The first Chiltern participation was in the U11 Boys race and the Chiltern team was second thanks to Kit Reynolds in sixth, Oliver Dixon in eighth, and Evan Atkinson in ninth. Freddie Higgins in 12th, and Oliver Ingham in 13th completed the team.
Sunaya Nanda built up a strong lead in the U13 Girls race and held on for victory. The scoring for the winning team was completed by Lottie Monnington in third and Aura Lue-Fong in fourth. Emilia Ingham was eighth and Millie Killingback was 16th. The U13 Boys team finished in third place, the scorers packing well - William Clasby in eighth, Barnaby Williams in ninth, Jack Dixon in tenth, and Thomas Cooper in 12th. Nell Frost had a great run to secure silver in the U15 Girls race. Good back up from Maya Davis in fifth and Juliette MacDougall in sixth ensured a team win. A large U15 Boys squad finished as second team. The scorers were Isaac McCall in fifth, Jacob McCall in seventh, Isaac Taylor in tenth and Harrison Lawrence in 12th. There was good back up from Colin Miles (13th), Kit Dixon (15th), and Toby Reynolds (17th). There were just a couple of Chiltern representatives in the U17/U20 Women’s race with Lucinda McRonald in ninth and Lara Milburn in 12th both running strongly. The U17 Men were second thanks to good runs from Edward Johnson (third), James Holdsworth (fourth), James Malin (ninth) and Zach Cleary (12th). Aidan Suleyman completed the team in 14th. Jack Turner had an easy win in the U20 Men’s race of just two competitors. A small Senior Women’s race saw the three Chiltern runners occupy the podium, with Katie Repper taking the win, Charlotte Docwra second and Katie Royals third. The biggest race of the day was in the Senior Men’s event which also saw the best contest with four in contention on the fourth and final lap. Good packing from the Chiltern runners saw a hard fought team win with the scorers being Harry Cox (fourth), Tim Lawrence (eighth), Aran Davidson (ninth), Cameron Reid (11th), Angus Williams (15th), and Daire Stack (16th). Tom Dixon was not far behind in 18th. Hertfordshire Cross Country Championships Meanwhile at a similarly wintry Fairlands Valley in Stevenage, a decent Chiltern representation secured plenty of success at the Hertfordshire Cross Country Championships. There were individual wins from Chloe Willson (U13 Girls) and Alex Whitfield (U17 Women), and several other strong runs. Chloe ran away from a fairly big field of 28 for a twenty second win in the U13 Girls race. Jack Dalton ran well for 12th in the U13 Boys race (again from a large field of 32). In the U15 Boys race Isaac Brown was 19th. Alex Whitfield took a big win of nearly fifty seconds in the U17 women’s race and Emily Ford was fourth in the U20 Women’s event. Tom Ford won the bronze medal in a high calibre U17 Men’s race with Ben Reeder finishing 13th. Callum Powell was sixth in the U20 Men’s race and Beverley Whitfield had an excellent run to be fourth Senior Woman. Chiltern League 4 – marshalling help required Saturday 10th sees the fourth Chiltern League at Cassiobury Park, Watford.
