Bracknell Open

Several Chiltern athletes got their track seasons off to a good start at Bracknell on Saturday. There were many PBs and good performances to enjoy on a sunny but cool and occasionally windy afternoon.
U11 Boys
Ollie Dixon had a good day, second in the 600m in an excellent 1.59.44, and also running 12.87 in 75m.
 
U13 Boys
Jack Dixon was second in Javelin with a PB of 20.11m and logged 2.06.01 in 600m.
 
U15 Girls
Holly Knott had a busy day with PBs of 3.60m in Long Jump and 1.40m in High Jump, and a season’s best 2.35.01 in 800m. Holly won a bronze medal in High Jump. Fellow first year Juliette MacDougall was also in PB form – 3.92m in Long Jump and 5.11.02 in 1500m. Newcomer Lola Webb ran 14.94 in 100m and 31.12 in 200m and Amariah Odogwu ran 30.59 in 200m.
 
U15 Boys
Kit Dixon and Isaac Brown ran 1500m PBs with Kit recording 5.08.18 and Issac 5.14.49. Kit added 3.74m in Long Jump.
 
U17 Women
Evelyn Wildman had a great run, winning 1500m in 4.47.49, just outside her PB, and Rose Goding was third in javelin with a PB of 21.91m. Issy Robinson ran a season’s best 2.21.72 to be second in 800m. Abi Masters ran 44.43 in 300m with Pia Walsh logging 49.39. Chaise Duff ran 14.37 in 100m and got a PB of 4.19m in Long Jump.
 
U17 Men
Emile Morti ran a PB and English Schools qualifier of 13.84 in 100m hurdles, and followed that up with a PB of 11.43 in 100m flat. Mattie Gemmell (2.09.70) and Charlie De Sousa (2.28.88) both ran PBs in 800m. Possibly the best race of the day was the 1500m and featured PBs from Edward Johnson (4.13.66) Aidan Suleyman (4.14.06) and James Henderson (4.52.29).

English Schools Cross Country Championships

Nineteen Chiltern athletes took part for their county schools teams at the final big cross country of the season on Saturday. The English Schools Championships were held at a sunny but chilly Ardingly Showground in West Sussex, and firm but uneven ground on fast but undulating courses made from some great racing.
Intermediate Girls
Megan Lockwood had a good run for Buckinghamshire Schools in the first race of the day, 148th and sixth scorer in the team that came fifth, the best Bucks team performance of the day.
 
Junior Boys
On a very short 2.8k course Harrison Lawrence came 228th and Toby Reynolds 330th running for the Bucks Junior Boys team.
 
Junior Girls
The Bucks Junior Girls were 17th and featured a good crop of young Chiltern runners. Maya Davis was second scorer in 94th, Juliette Macdougall was third scorer in 120th, and Loren Gerber sixth scorer in 216th. First years Alice Martin in 229th and Nell Frost in 249th gained good experience.
 
Intermediate Boys
There was also good Chiltern representation in the Inter Boys race. For the Bucks team that came 14th Edward Johnson was first scorer in 29th with Aidan Suleyman fifth scorer in 155th and Thomas Reynolds in 201st. For Hertfordshire Tom Ford was first scorer in 42nd and James Holdsworth fourth scorer in 132nd.
 
Senior Girls
Alice Peckham was fifth Bucks scorer in 190th in the Senior Girls race with Jo Snelling in 240th. Emily Ford was first Herts scorer in 98th.
 
Senior Boys
Archie Pinder completed his schools cross country career as first scorer for the Bucks team in 92nd. Callum Powell was second scorer in 132nd and Jack Turner fourth scorer in 284th.

National Inter Counties Cross Country Championships

There was good Chiltern representation in the Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire teams at the National Inter Counties at Wollaton Park, Nottingham on Saturday. A total of 27 donned their county vests at this prestigious end of season meeting.
 
After a week of dry weather, and with a warm, sunny day on Saturday, the parkland course was fast and firm, making for great spectating conditions.
First race off was the U20 men and Toby Radbourne was the third Bucks finisher in 168th.
 
Next up were the U13 Girls which featured a good crop of Chiltern runners. Juliette MacDougall was first Bucks girl home in 19th (the highest Chiltern placing of the day) and also running well to complete the scoring four were Bea Robinson 100th, Nell Frost 107th and Loren Gerber 120th. Emilia Ingham was 184th and Holly Knott was 228th. The Bucks team was 19th.
 
Of the four Bucks Senior Women competing two were Chiltern and Maddie Hughes was first scorer in 158th with Katie Royals fourth scorer in 222nd.
 
Ther weren’t any Chiltern boys in the U15 Bucks team but Tom Ford was 38th in that race and part of the Herts team that came fifth.
 
The Bucks U17 women were 17th with Issy Robinson fourth scorer in 165th and Alice Peckham seventh finisher in 196th. Emily Ford was second Herts scorer in 140th.
 
Edward Johnson was first Bucks U17 man in 32nd with James Holdsworth second scorer in 102nd. Aidan Suleyman was fifth Bucks finisher in 199th and Zach Cleary was eighth finisher in 272nd. Callum Powell was fifth finisher in the Herts team, finishing in 123rd.
 
The Bucks U13 Boys were 17th with Harrison Lawrence third scorer in 110th. Toby Reynolds was 257th and Zac Taylor 261st.
 
In the U20 women’s race Bucks were 12th with Jo Snelling fourth scorer in 110th. Bucks U15 Girls were 11th with Maya Davis third scorer in 95th, Evelyn Wildman fourth scorer in 108th and Megan Lockwood sixth finisher in182nd.
 
Finally the Senior Men had a full team of nine out which finished 23rd. The Bucks runners packed well with James Palmer fifth scorer in 169th and Tim Lawrence eighth finisher in 191st.
 
Some of the youngsters will race again on March 15th at the English Schools at Haywards Heath, marking the end of the cross country season for most.

Hello there, Race Report fans, and welcome to your first Report of 2025! The sun arrived and brought with it a brilliant day of racing for Team Green at the Berkhamsted Half Marathon and five mile ‘Fun Run’ (the organisers have evidently never experienced the five miles of the Pednor loop).
