There were two major cross country meetings featuring Chiltern athletes on Saturday
BUCS The British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) Championship was held at Charnwood in Leicestershire. This is a big event with the top six from each university competing in a longer, ‘A’ race, and a shorter ‘B’ race which features all other competitors. The female A race over 8k saw a good run from Maddie Hughes to be the fourth Nottingham University scorer in 83rd place. There were several Chiltern runners in the 6k B race which saw a large field of 563 face the starter. Frankie Baxter was in 100th place for Exeter B and Katie Repper was 141st for Bath B. Alice Brown continued her good form to be 156th for Birmingham H and Hannah Ashby was 268th for Nottingham F. Jinaan Lockwood was 402nd for the University of Lancashire and Rosa Williams 417th for Nottingham I. On the men’s side Laurie Gawne was 93rd for Cambridge B and Isaac Jessop-Tranter 147th for Birmingham I in a huge race of 726 finishers in the male B event. Herts Schools The usual crop of Chiltern athletes running for their schools in the Herts Schools Championships did well. Tom Ford had a good run at Verulamiam Park, St Albans to take the victory in the Inter Boys race. Ben Reeder ran well for 11th and James Henderson was 17th. The Junior race saw Isaac Brown 13th, Josh Woodward 18th and Hector Gamblen 39th. Jack Dalton had a good run in the Pre-Junior Boys to be 13th. Emily Ford was third in the Senior Girls race and Alex Whitfield was third in the Inter Girls event. Tom, Emily and Alex will run for Herts Schools at the English Schools Championships at Liverpool on March 14th. Comments are closed.
