Good Evening Race Report fans. I hope that you all came through Halloween unscathed and welcome to November. May there be less ‘November Rain’ and lots of ‘November Run’. Kicking off Halloween in style Jonny Slade and Lauren Mayot (an unstoppable racing machine) were in action in Serpentine’s last Friday of the Month 5k. Jonny clocked a time of 17.42, Lauren - 22.20. It’s been a great weekend for trail running. In the Chiltern Ridge Winter 50k Chirs Pitkin beat his previous time by a stonking 42 minutes to come home in 6.24.50 yesterday, joining fellow Harriers Russell Vandenbrekel (4.45.33) and Tim Dutfield (7.13.07). It looks like a beautiful event from (largely) local company Runaway Racing, starting and finishing in Berkhamsted. Meanwhile up in Mansfield at the National Cross-Country Relays, the Chiltern Senior Mens’ team came home a brilliant 15th out of 172 teams. The Chiltern quartet (each running 5k) were: Richard Slade (14.43.49), Simon Bossi (16.03.00), Alex Aldred (16.25.75), and Harry Cox (16.11.88). Just phenomenal running. Moving on to today, but staying on the trails (for now), Chiltern were well-represented in Wendover Woods. In the marathon event Annelize Colquhoun clocked a time of 4.35.14; in the half, Lauren Mayot - 1.58.14 and Abi Askey - 1.54.47 (strava time); and in the 10k, Stephen Didcott - 1.23.59. Then moving to Marlow Andy Wiseall took on the aptly-named Frankenstein trail race (a 10-ish k trail race as part of the popular Marlow Half), finishing in 51.21. In the Half itself Chiltern’s Daire Stack was a brilliant 1st (!) place in 1.16.42, joined by Ian Lawson in 1.55.31 (making it two halves in two weekends for Ian… next week he is planning a full pint). In the Marlow 7 Max McGarvie finished in 1.03.18. And finally, breaking news from the Big Apple, where Caroline Stephens has just completed the prestigious World Marathon Majors! On a tough course she put in a fantastic effort to finish in 4.05.27, joining fellow Harrier Adam Shute (2.39.59). BOOK YOUR SPOT at CHAC’s inaugural Quiz Night on 15 November.
