Good Evening, Race Reports fans from a sunny Amersham. I hope you all managed to enjoy some time outside this weekend, be that running, or while taking part in some other activity. Before we get into this week’s results, a few memorable moments from last weekend. There were some serious parrkrun milestones met: Andy Wiseall completed his 50th at Holkham in Norfolk (21.33), while Lindsay Turner and Richard Moss both completed their 250th, respectively at Rickmansworth (30.15) and Church Mead (23.22). Meanwhile, it was a hat-rick of all time PBs for the Dixon brothers at Somerdale Pavilion parkrun: 19.57 for Kit, 20.47 for Ollie and 22.54 for Jack. Well done! On 26 May, Club President ran the ‘Run in Paradise’ 10km run on Antigua - his first outing in Club colours since returning to Chiltern Harriers. He came home in a brilliant 6th out of 150 in 26°C and 88% humidity and in a time of 53.41.
Moving on to this weekend, we’ll kick things off with parkrun from results from Saturday 1 June. Shout outs to Jess Orr for an all-time PB at Rickmansworth (21.55) and to Nigel Dickinson for a course PB at East End parkrun, New Plymouth in New Zealand (26.18). Meanwhile, one accolade wasn’t enough for Charlotte Docwra and Michelle Gorman. Charlotte took 1st place and an all-time PB at Perry Hall (20.31), while Michelle was 1st with a course PB at Church Mead (23.05). Billed as ‘possibly the toughest half marathon in the UK, and the most awe-inspiring’ Pablo Fuentes braved the Cadair X event today, 2 June: 13.1 miles which takes in 1165m of climb and the summit of beautiful Cadir Idris in Snowdonia. Pablo was 7th overall in a strava time of 2.32.38. Brilliant! Sticking with the fell running theme, Chiltern were well represented at the annual 7km Coombe Hill Fell Race by Tring Running Club. The following are all strava times: Miriam Kempson (49.15), Lauren Mayot (43.49), Becs Nkoane (41.43), Ben Hannen (35.54), Grant Whitaker (38.50) and Mark Fry. And finally, the Mosses braved the Hitchin Hard Half Marathon: Richard came home in 1.34.02 and Sylvia in 1.57.16, unluckily being led astray in the last couple of miles - but still a brilliant run, particularly given the setback.
