Good Evening, fans, from Race Report HQ. I hope you’ve been enjoying this glorious sunshine. First of all, may I treat you to a quick look back at last weekend’s Pednor 5. Huge thanks are due to all the volunteers who made it possible, both on the day, but also (more importantly) in the months of planning that takes place ahead of the event. You all make it the success that it is. From my quick count, there were 25 Harriers out running the course. St Albans Striders pipped our men for the male team prize, but our women came out victorious! Special shout outs to: Aran Davidson, 3rd overall in 26.28; Adam Shute, 1st M40 in 27.44; Beverley Whitfield, 2nd woman in 30.44; James Malin, 1st junior males in 32.08; and Rebecca Lawson, 1st junior female in 40.37. You can find full results from Pednor here. Tom Powell sneaked in a cheeky little marathon in Milton Keynes on 5 May, clocking a time of 4.11.58.
Moving on to today’s events, it was a case of ‘why does it always rain on me’ for Ben Hannen, who managed to get a soaking in the Plymouth Half, while the rest of the Club basked in Chiltern sunshine. That said, Ben may be the one with the last laugh, given his brilliant time of 1.36.19. Adam Shute (there’s that name again) retained his title at the Run Prestwood 10k, finishing the course in 36.19. He was joined by Dom Baker (42.28) and Allan Cairns (46.14). Apologies to anyone who I have missed. The results do not show Club names. Over in Marlow, Kingsley Nanton and Carys Evans were in action in the Marlow 5, clocking times of 34.38 and 35.57, respectively. Well done to both of you! COMING UP LOCALLY: the start of the Southern Athletics League, the Ridge Off-Roader, Youth Development League, Trust 10k and Last Friday of the Month 5k, Penn 7, SEAA Championships, Second Sunday 5 and the St Albans Half. Check out these events, and more in the Club Calendar.
