Good Evening, Race Report fans. I hope as the evenings draw in, Race Report will help you to feel snuggly and warm this Sunday evening. It was great to see many of you at the first Chiltern League match of the season yesterday, in sunny St Albans. Keep your eyes peeled on the website for Steve P’s usual report. First of all, a look back to last weekend. On 5 October our brilliant Mairead O’Rourke was pacing round the streets of the Chester Marathon. Mairead finished a very respectable 4th in her age category in 3.25.52. Moving on to today: it’s been a busy day for racing. Chiltern were very well represented at the Tring Ridgeway Run - a beautiful, but challenging trail race, hosted by Tring Running Club. Grant Whitaker led the bunch home in 1.41.31. He was joined by: Tom Powell (1.25.17); Ben Hannen (1.25.24); Helen Cholawo (1.25.31); and Giles Greenhalgh (1.27.04). Some impressive grouping there by Harriers! Lauren Mayot, Beth Lang and Julia Aliaj took on the Frieth Hilly 10k (presumably, it does what it says on the tin!) Lauren was first home in 53.14, then Beth in 54.39 and Julian in 57.18. Continuing with the 10k news, the Mosses joined their daughter in the Goose Fair Gallop 10k. Sylvia clocked a time of 46.22, Richard (who is recovering from man flu) - 57.51. Moving on to the roads and flying over the Atlantic, former Club member Stuart Real-Slavicky was running in the Chicago Marathon, no less! He finished in a highly credible 3.25.18. Finally, the Club was very well represented in the Oxford Half (below are all Strava times, official times not yet available on the website): Dom Baker (1.24.30); Abi Askey (1.36.36); Steve Emery (1.38.28); Matt Lawrence (1.41.51); and Christine Taylor (1.42.40). COMING UP LOCALLY: the Club's EGM, Maidenhead Half, Last Friday of the Month 5k, the Marlow Half, Second Sunday 5, the next Chiltern League match, the Brighton 10k (incorporating the Southern Inter-Counties) and the Club’s inaugural Quiz. For more details, check out the Club Calendar here.
A NOTE ABOUT RACE REPORT: Remember that Race Report relies on you. I can’t include results unless you let me know that you (or someone you know) has done an event. Similarly, I always appreciate being forwarded events to add to the Club Calendar. Keep me informed by emailing [email protected] AND FINALLY: you can help the Club by coming along to be ‘guinea pigs’ for two new run leaders and helping them to get their licenses. (No actual animal testing). All you need to do is come along to Lowndes Park, Chesham on Sunday, 19 October at 1315. You’ll take part in two warm ups and two five-minute ‘sessions’, which will be filmed. Comments are closed.
