Good Evening, Race Report fans, and Happy Star Wars Day. As ever, this is the ‘pre-Pednor edition’ of the May Bank Holiday Monday report. Keep watching the website for the results from Buckinghamshire’s self-proclaimed premiere 5-mile road race. Before we get into the reporting a huge thank you to all of our Chiltern volunteers this weekend. Yesterday, CHAC hosted a highly successful match of the Youth Development League (Lower Age Group) at the track in Little Marlow. This evening it’s the turn of the Pednor 5. Neither event would be possible without the time and commitment of volunteers, on the day, at set-up and for the months prior. While there are huge numbers of CHAC volunteers, special praise is due to Alan Hewson and Nicky Bedford, and to Paul McCarthy for masterminding the YDL and Pednor, respectively. Look out for Steve P’s report from Little Marlow. And with that, let’s get into the Report. A belated well done is due to Tim Lawrence for a spectacular run in the Boston Marathon on 20 April. He clocked a PB time of 2.39.53. Moreover, I can report that he narrowly avoided death by shotput at the YDL yesterday, and, after a day on his feet, paced wife Kirsten round the MK Marathon today in a time of 4.03.55. Kudos all round! Sticking with the MK Marathon, Stuart ‘the’ Real-Slavicky led the Club home in a time of 3.12.19, as he preps for the Tokyo Marathon in 2027. He was joined by: Frank Gaymond (3.40.55), Ben Hannen (3.43.17) and Chris Pitkin (3.58.58). The half marathon event saw a debut to the distance from Get Going Runner Sarah Barrett, in a time of 3.38.23, and a PB for husband Maik – 2.23.57. Well done! As a GGR coach, I am super proud :-) (And can now see what this coaching malarkey is all about…) IT REALLY IS YOUR LAST CHANCE to book tickets for the social on 9 May. If you’re worried about timing because of the Bucks Championship, let me reassure you that food isn’t until 1830! (You won’t miss out by being a bit late, and we’d all love for you to get a shower.) You can book tickets here. AND IT REALLY IS YOUR LAST CHANCE to register for the free workshop on young women in sport on Wednesday 6 May. The workshop includes:
COMING UP LOCALLY: Bucks County Champs, Second Sunday 5, Compton Marathon, the kick-off of the Southern Athletics League, Buckingham Half Marathon, Ridge Off Roader, Trust 10k and the YDL Upper Age Group. Check out the Club Calendar for details of these events and more. REMEMBER to email [email protected] with any race results and photos for inclusion in Race Report! Comments are closed.
