Good Evening, Race Report fans, from a Race Report HQ where I am currently multi-tasking between writing this report and watching the football. I’m not finding myself in he mood to come up with a bunch of puns right now… However, coming back to the important business of running, I’ll start with a quick look-back to the Summer Solstice 10k, from 20 June, which I managed to miss in last weekend’s report. Mike ‘Tiny’ Turney continued in his mission of collecting all V60 prizes going, clocking a time of 37.35. He was joined by Fiona Kelleher (41.52) and Julia Aliaj (51.22). Tiny’s mission continued today at the Thame 10k, once against taking first in his age category in an impressive time of 37.44 and joined in short order by Dominic Baker (39.40); Toby Radbourne (43.02); Kingsley Nanton (43.04); and Darryl Hanstein (45.44) - a really strong showing by the Club. Sue Slade was also sweeping up the age category prizes, this time at the Regent’s Park 10k, in a very respectable time of 50.01. Meanwhile, in Lisbon, Portugal, Richard and Sylvia Moss took place in the 4ª Corrida INCM 2024 (or the 4th INCM Race) - a 10k event - coming home in 41.15 and 49.05, respectively. And finally, in parkrun news, both Daire Stack and Leon Doran managing to take first placed finishes with all-time parkrun PBs: Daire in Ricky (16.27) and Leon in Aylesbury (16.01). Soraya Lockwood was first at Church Mead in a time of 21.54, meanwhile there were course PBs for both Emily Stead and Ella Watson at Wendover Woods (26.12 and 28.33, respectively). NEWSFLASH: Entries are now open for the Shardeloes 10k (and at a special reduced price for 2024)! And Race Director Katie Royals is on the look-out for people who can help in the run-up (so you can both race and help the Club - win!) Reach out to Katie on WhatsApp or [email protected] . COMING UP LOCALLY: Watford and Oxford graded open track meets, Youth Development League, English Schools Track & Field Champs, Humanity Direct Chiltern Ultra, Last Friday of the Month 5k and EA Track & Field Champs. More details on these events, and more in the Club Calendar.
