A relatively quiet report for you this week, but - pleasingly for me - it’s full of ultra action! (The best kind of action in my books). Firstly, congratulations to Cath Holloway, who was 15th overall and 4th female in the Nav4 Pennine 39 on 29 June: a 37-mile, self-navigated route taking in 1700m (!) of ascent along the Pennine Way. The finish is at a Youth Hostel, where your reward is a bowl of soup. Cath’s time was a very impressive 8hrs30.
Meanwhile, yesterday Christine Taylor and Ade McCormack were in action on 52km of trail (c. 1250m of climb) in the Peak District Ultra Challenge. They completed a circular route starting and finishing in the town of Bakewell, with rumours that Ade may now want to take on a 100km event ;-) The two supported each other throughout, with Christine finishing in 7.56.21 and Ade in 7.56.32. COMING UP LOCALLY: Watford and Oxford graded open track meets, Youth Development League, English Schools Track & Field Champs, Humanity Direct Chiltern Ultra, Last Friday of the Month 5k and EA Track & Field Champs. More details on these events, and more in the Club Calendar. Comments are closed.
