Good Evening, Race Report fans! We’ll have to kick things off with the World 24-hour Championships in Albi, France on 18 October. Our own Ali Young was there, once again, representing GB and running round and round and round a track (of all the mad things to do!) This time, I think it’s fair to say, it was all about the team. And what a team they were! It was Gold for Team GB in the women’s competition, including first race and an overall world record for Sarah Webster (278.62 km). Ali clocked a sickening 213.36 km, pacing the team’s third runner home. Not only was it team gold, but a world record distance was achieved by the top three scorers and five GB female athletes went further than 213km - a first for a championship. All that said, all we know is we are well proud of our girl. Well done, Ali! You deserved that bottle of fizz on the flight home xx Slightly further from home, but slightly less mad, Chiltern Harriers had two athletes in action in the Amsterdam Marathon on 19 October. Giles Greenhalgh finished in an excellent 3.50.41 and Tom Finch was (figuratively, probably not literally) snapping at his heels in 3.56.47. A big well done to Tom’s wife, too :-) Moving on to this weekend, Ben Hannen braved the elements in a wet, windy, cold Marathon Eyri (Snowdonia Marathon) yesterday, 25 October. Ben had hoped for a sub-4. Alas in the weather conditions, which saw a very slippy downhill finish, it wasn’t to be. But Ben came away with a more than creditable 4.20.15. Meanwhile, it was a father and daughter affair for Ian and Rebecca Lawson at the Maidenhead Half Marathon today, 26 October. Both finished in 2.11.47. Well done, all! BOOK YOUR SPOT at CHAC’s inaugural Quiz Night on 15 November. More details here.
