Wycombe and Chiltern commenced their Southern Athletics League season at Woking on Saturday. A slightly depleted team battled hard and was in third for much of the day. But in a very tight contest the team ended up equal fourth, just two points behind third. Several Chiltern athletes made the journey and there were good efforts all round. Conditions were cool, blustery and occasionally drizzly. There was a big Chiltern presence in the men’s 5000m. Aran Davidson was second in A string with 15.50.52 and a trio of non-scorers scored PBs - U18 Edward Johnson ran 15.56.14, Senior Cameron Reid 15.57.63, and U18 James Henderson 16.56.79. Immediately beforehand Lucinda McRonald (11.29.10) and Katie Royals (11.46.32) scored valuable points in 3000m.
Alex Aldred ran well for second in A string 800m in 1.56.98 and ran in a strong 4 x 400m relay team that was third in 3.33.18. Jess Orr was third in B string 800m. Sarah Cross won B string pole vault with 2.80m and scored excellent points in high jump, triple jump, and javelin. Issy Robinson was also busy in A string 400m and 1500m and as part of the 4 x 100m relay team. Fiona Calder helped out in B string 100m and 200m. The next match is at Chelmsford on June 21st and the team hopes for a better turnout before the Wycombe and Chiltern hosted match at Little Marlow on July 19th. Comments are closed.
