As usual Chiltern athletes made a good contribution to the Wycombe and Chiltern team at the final Southern Athletics League match of the season. The match saw the composite team finish in third place which was enough to secure ninth place in the Division 1 standings (which features 18 teams). Conditions were good at Norman Park Bromley with sunshine and high temperatures.
Katie Repper and Jess Orr scored a double win in 1500m with Katie running a PB of 4.53.33 in A string and Jess Orr winning B string in 5.16.87. Katie Royals braved the heat to tough out fifth place in A string 5000m in 20.34.76. Sarah Cross had a busy day before injury curtailed her day -first in A string pole vault with a PB of 3.20m and second in A string javelin with 32.30m. Aran Davidson was the sole Chiltern male, second in A string 3000m in 9.21.99. The SAL provides a great opportunity for the age groups to come together in a friendly but competitive environment. This year Chiltern athletes to have taken part include – Sarah Cross, Katie Royals, Jess Orr, Lucinda McRonald, Katie Repper, Issy Robinson, Fiona Calder, Aran Davidson, Euan Pinder, Archie Pinder, Alex Aldred, Isaac Jessop-Tranter, Edward Johnson, James Henderson, Jack Turner, Neil Turner, James Malin, Ash Finch, and Cameron Reid. Sue Slade and Graham Tranter have aided the team by officiating at all matches, with support during the season from Doug Smith, Sarah Wardley, Nick Pinder, Tom Robinson, and Anne Underwood.
