The advent of Spring is usually synonymous with new beginnings. Currently it can be difficult to see beyond the darkness, fear and anxiety. But, the glimmer of sun we’ve seen this past week and the clocks going forward tonight should serve as a reminder that a fresh start will come. I know many were disappointed, while understanding, that races have been cancelled. It may not be on the immediate horizon, but there will be another marathon, another race, another PB. Just like, there will too be another Tuesday evening at Chiltern Hills where we’ll be running up what feels like every hill in Chesham - and probably moaning a fair deal about it along the way!
We all run for different reasons, but I don’t think anyone would deny the mental benefits, which are perhaps most needed at a time like this. With that in mind, we’ve decided to create some fun challenges to keep you motivated, connected and hopefully positive until we can all run together again. What are you doing with your extra hour of morning sun? (or rain!) Tell us how you’re going to make the most of the extra hour of light the clocks going forward brings. Are you going to get out early for a socially distant run or perhaps do a garden yoga session? Equally if you’re planning in staying in bed and watching Netflix that’s fine too because #balance. Selfies are encouraged! Strava art competition We want to see your best Strava art – this also works on Garmin Connect if you’re not on Strava. Bonus points will be given for designs with a Spring theme. Easter themed run As Easter approaches, we’re challenging you to create an Easter theme to your run. This could be in the form of fancy dress, an egg hunt or some Strava art- get creative! Rules/how to enter Firstly, it goes without saying you must be following all government guidelines – if guidance changes, we’ll update the challenges accordingly. On Strava use the hashtag #HarriersChallenge to enter your run and join the Chiltern Harriers ‘club’ to make sure we can see it. You can also share your pics on Instagram (@chilternharriers) and Twitter (@ChilternHarrier) or post them on the Facebook group in the Slack chat channel. Entries are closed for the Easter challenge. Check out the entries here. Send your stories to [email protected] Stay healthy, stay happy, stay Harriers x Comments are closed.
