Good Evening, Race Report fans! I hope you have been enjoying the sunny, albeit slightly cooler, weather this weekend and are looking forward to a visit from the Easter Bunny. Hopping back to last week, a huge shout out to Cath Holloway, surely one of the toughest runners in the Club, who completed the gruelling Exe to Axe last weekend - around 22 miles along the South West coastal footpath from Exmouth to Seaton - in an excellent time of 4.01.08. Well done, Cath.
And then bounding back to today: Spring road running continues, with the Brighton Marathon being the highlight today. Ed Wright was the first Harrier home in Brighton in a time of 3.28.05. He was joined swiftly by Hannah Ryan, in a PB time of 4.45.31, and Rasmi Nanda in 5.02.53. In half marathon action, Jennifer Webb completed the beautiful-looking ‘Kew the Half’ in Kew Gardens in 1.56.25; and Yours Truly was chuffed with a PB time of 1.30.08 at the White Horse Half in Oxfordshire. Moving on to the trails, we salute Hywel Thomas for an absolutely amazing performance in Centurion’s South Downs Way 50. Hywel finished the c. 50 mile event in 8.21.20, taking in 6,300 ft of climb along the way. That put him in 2nd place in his age category by my calculations. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. And finally, in parkrun news there were first placed finishes yesterday for Sylvia Moss (21.33 at Clapham Common), Hannah Wardley (19.27 at Wollaton Hall), and for Rebecca McCall (22.32 at the inaugural Church Mead parkrun in Amersham). Cath Holloway got a course PB at Wendover Woods (23.28), whilst Nat Baker clocked parkrun number 50 at Church Mead (45.43, but she arrived very late). Details of locations for Senior Training in April are here. COMING UP LOCALLY: Maidenhead Easter 10, Beaconsfield 5, Last Friday of the Month 5k, Chalgrove Festival 10k, Esher 10k and - of course - the Pednor 5! If you are not planning to run the Pednor 5 this year, then do please consider volunteering , and help the Club to put on a brilliant event for all. If you would be interested in volunteering, please speak to Trevor Davies. More details on these events and others are available in the Club Calendar. Comments are closed.
