Once again, we are planning a social to celebrate a fantastic Chiltern League for the club.

Booking is open until 5pm on Monday 6th February. Partners and families are all very welcome. Kara Gorman continued her great winter form to win the individual bronze medal in the U13 Girls race at the Southern Cross Country Championships at Beckenham on Saturday. Kara led home a strong Chiltern quartet that was fourth from twenty-two complete teams. Maya Davis was 27th, Nia Clarke 33rd and Evelyn Wildman 69th to complete the scoring. Earlier the Under 15 Boys had put in a good performance to finish seventh team from twenty-seven. Alex Hughes was 11th, Callum Powell 46th, Daniel Munn 47th and James Holdsworth 58th.
There was a similarly good result for the Under 15 girls with Emily Ford in sixth and in-form Lucy Wilkinson in seventh both running superbly to break into the top ten. The remaining scorers in the team that came fifth from twenty-two were Issy Robinson 67th and Marlie Nkoane 74th. The girls were only fourteen points off the podium. Olivia Clarke in 104th and Rebecca Lawson in 121st also ran well. There was another top ten run from Thomas Ford on the Under 13 Boys race, finishing an excellent fifth. Thomas Reynolds continued his good big-race progress with a very good twentieth. In the Under 17 Women’s race Frankie Baxter in 16th and Ellie Shield in 22nd both had great runs. The Under 17 Men did well to come eighth team. Archie Pinder was 31st, Ash Finch 33rd, Leon Doran 56th, Sammy Bennetts 74th, Matt Evans 88th and Euan Pinder 120th. Chiltern League stalwarts Louis Peterson and James Palmer both had good runs in the U20 Men’s race, Louis finishing 24th and James 39th. Ian Lawson was 471st in the Senior Men’s race. As January draws to a close and bank accounts breathe a sigh of relief, I’m pleased to bring you this evening’s Race Report. Once again, it is a relatively quiet one, but ends with EXCITING NEWS.
Good Evening, Race Report fans.
Things continue to be relatively quiet here in Race Report land, with just a smattering of parkrun results and the Fred Hughes for your delectation this week. Fortunately, those results do not disappoint. Chiltern Harriers had a great day at Campbell Park on Saturday, winning the fourth match in the series and providing a buffer of 300 points going into the season finale at Keysoe in February. After early heavy rain the weather improved but the course became increasingly muddy and treacherous as the day wore on. The Under 11 girls began proceedings and Annie-Rose Quantrill in fourth and Soraya Roughton in sixth scored enough points to secure fourth. The team are second going into match 5. The Under 11 boys were third and are second season-to-date. Thomas Living was second, Hector Gamblen 14th, and Jack Rogers 18th, with Max MacDonald 19th, Zac Taylor 24th and Jack Dixon 36th.
Junior teams were back to more-or-less full strength and the Under 13 girls recorded a good win. Kara Gorman recorded her fourth win, thereby securing the league title. Also scoring were Maya Davis in third, Nia Clarke in fifth and Evelyn Wildman in eighth. Completing the small but talented team were Megan Lockwood in ninth and Carys Jones in 14th. After four matches the girls are narrowly second to St Albans with all to play for in the finale. Tom Ford in second led home the victorious Chiltern U13 boys contingent with Charlie Quantrill sixth, Eddie O’Brien 13th and George Mawby 14th completing the scoring. Also running well were Jacob McCall 18th, Isaac McCall 19th, Theo Roughton 23rd, Kit Dixon 24th, and Lenny Brooks-Klingenschmid 33rd. The team have a small lead going into match 5. In the Under 15 girls race Emily Ford scored a memorable win to complete four victories and clinch the overall title. Backing Emily up were Lucy Wilkinson in third, Issy Robinson seventh and Marlie Nkoane tenth. Olivia Clarke in 14th, Alice Peckham in 16th, and Rebecca Lawson in 22nd also ran well. The team were second to MK by a point and are just three points behind MK overall. Back to full strength, the Under 15 boys powered to a good win. Alex Hughes won the race with Daniel Munn third, Callum Powell fourth and James Holdsworth fifth scoring. Also well up were Rory Hilton in tenth, Aidan Suleyman 12th, Max Roughton 15th, Toby Pullen 21st, Zach Cleary 22nd, Dylan Rossi 27th, Mattie Gemmell 30th, Charlie De Sousa 34th, and Danny Carruthers 35th. The team are second overall but too far behind leaders Bedford to catch up. The Junior Women’s team won this match but are fourth overall. A place on the podium is still possible. Maddie Hughes in second, Frankie Baxter third and Ellie Shield ninth were the scorers, with Lesedi Nkoane in 14th, Hannah Ashby 19th and Ellie Gowers 30th completing the team. Roger Ellerby is organising a Spring marathon training group. While the majority of training will be done individually, the group will be meeting on Tuesday evenings to do a speed session together. A small Chiltern contingent did very well at Cassiobury Park, Watford on Sunday in the Herts Cross Country Championships. The first race was the Under 11 Girls and Soraya Roughton had a great run to win with debutant Holly Knott third, Branwen Harman ninth and Emilia Ingham tenth. The team was second.

Ellie Shield was sixth, Maddie Rae eighth, Sofia Lomas 12th, Jo Snelling 13th, Annabelle Hilton 16th and Ellie Gowers 20th. The U17 and U20 Men also compete together. In the U17 part of the race Thomas Redmond won silver with Matt Evans seventh and Sammy Bennetts ninth. James Palmer was seventh overall and first U20 and Henry Webb was fifth U20. U20 Tom Emery was well paced but had to withdraw after rolling an ankle. The Senior Women did very well missing team gold by just one point and the Vets were team winners. In a small race the Chiltern scorers were Bex Nkoane in second, Ellie Bates fourth and Katie Royals fifth. The winning Vets threesome was Bex, Abi Askey ninth and Tamsin Finch 12th. Happy New Year, Race Report fans. Here at Race report HQ we are wishing you a 2023 that is full of the things that you enjoy, and all the best in your sporting endeavours. We’re also hoping it stops raining at some point ahead of Campbell Park….
A quick well done to all who took part in county cross country Championships this weekend. Look out for a report to follow, but in the meantime a huge thanks to our very own Doug Smith who coordinated the Bucks Champs yesterday in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. It was a beautiful, but tough course on a fairly squally day. We do not underestimate the contribution of the organisers, officials and marshals in those circumstances. Sessions:
