Kara Gorman continued her great winter form to win the individual bronze medal in the U13 Girls race at the Southern Cross Country Championships at Beckenham on Saturday. Kara led home a strong Chiltern quartet that was fourth from twenty-two complete teams. Maya Davis was 27th, Nia Clarke 33rd and Evelyn Wildman 69th to complete the scoring. Earlier the Under 15 Boys had put in a good performance to finish seventh team from twenty-seven. Alex Hughes was 11th, Callum Powell 46th, Daniel Munn 47th and James Holdsworth 58th.
There was a similarly good result for the Under 15 girls with Emily Ford in sixth and in-form Lucy Wilkinson in seventh both running superbly to break into the top ten. The remaining scorers in the team that came fifth from twenty-two were Issy Robinson 67th and Marlie Nkoane 74th. The girls were only fourteen points off the podium. Olivia Clarke in 104th and Rebecca Lawson in 121st also ran well. There was another top ten run from Thomas Ford on the Under 13 Boys race, finishing an excellent fifth. Thomas Reynolds continued his good big-race progress with a very good twentieth. In the Under 17 Women’s race Frankie Baxter in 16th and Ellie Shield in 22nd both had great runs. The Under 17 Men did well to come eighth team. Archie Pinder was 31st, Ash Finch 33rd, Leon Doran 56th, Sammy Bennetts 74th, Matt Evans 88th and Euan Pinder 120th. Chiltern League stalwarts Louis Peterson and James Palmer both had good runs in the U20 Men’s race, Louis finishing 24th and James 39th. Ian Lawson was 471st in the Senior Men’s race.
