I hope you are doing well this evening :-) Congratulations to all who took part in this morning’s Bran Tub Relay, and a huge thank you to all who helped out to make it possible. Results available here, with Steve’s report to follow.
BRAN TUB RELAY RESULTS
A big thank you to all marshals, refreshment helpers and coaches, without whom the bran tub could not have taken place. Sue Steve's report After a 2020 where the Bran Tub Relay had to be done virtually, it was great to get back to a real life event on Sunday on the traditional 1450m circuit round Devonshire Avenue, Chesham Road and Hervines Road. And the 2021 edition was a classic with a great turnout, some excellent times and the event’s first dead heat. On a dull, mild day conditions were good for running and an entry of sixty-five meant a competitive thirteen-team start line. As always the event was a big team effort with many parents helping out with marshalling, refreshments and race admin. Each team of five featured one two-leg runner so six legs in total. At the end of six legs where the lead changed hands several times, it ended up being a battle between Alden Collier’s Green team and Oakley Denson running for Soraya Lockwood’s Pink team. Alden and Oakley couldn’t be separated crossing the line so a tie ensued. The Green team was Alden (3.57), Sammy Bennetts (4.22), Matt Clifford (4.54), Charlie De Sousa (5.27), Nia Clarke (5.33) and Alden 4.01 on leg six. Pink team times were as follows – Oakley (3.58), Will Shield (4.16), Kara Gorman (5.08), Soraya (5.18), Jack Rogers (5.34) and Oakley 4.00 on the final leg. Third team in was Emily Alderson’s White team where the double leg runner Seb Mills ran 4.20 and 4.24. Emily ran 5.05, Alfie Clifford (4.48), Tom Ford (4.53) and Ellie Shield (5.28). Lost property from Bran Tub- one pair grey Sonneti track suit bottoms, age 13-15. Please email Sue at [email protected] if they belong to you.
Happy Sunday evening, Race Report fans. I hope you’re doing well. Here are a few results from this weekend to bring a smile to your face.

Twenty-seven Chiltern Harriers were taking part for their county associations in the first high level championships of the winter at Lloyd Park, Croydon on Saturday. The weather was dry and mild but underfoot conditions fairly muddy on a good, undulating course around Lloyd Park. Most were taking part for Buckinghamshire but three were wearing the orange colours of Hertfordshire in a match that features some of the best young cross country talent in some of the strongest counties in the country. U13 Girls
There were two teams toeing the line for Bucks with Marlie Nkoane sixth A team runner in 52nd and Evelyn Wildman third B team runner in 99th. U13 Boys Tom Ford was second Herts scorer in the U13 boys coming 15th and also doing well were Felix Danielli who was first Bucks runner home in 22nd and Charlie Quantrill who was third Bucks scorer in 66th. U15 Girls Lesedi Nkoane was second Bucks scorer in 19th and Frankie Baxter fourth scorer in 32nd in a team that came fifth. Emily Ford ran well for Herts to be 30th and Marea Logan (Bucks) finished in 101st. U15 Boys The Bucks lads were hampered by being trapped at the back of a congested start. However Alden Collier moved through to be first scorer in 19th. Daniel Munn (35th), Isaac Jessop-Tranter (47th) and Alex Hughes (48th) completed a scoring foursome for Bucks and Rowan Gawne (62nd) and Rory Hilton (98th), making his county debut, also did well. Chiltern Harriers continued their excellent league season with a third win out of three at a sunny but windy Stopsley Park on Saturday. The club won by 300 points from Milton Keynes and Bedford, and go into the fourth round with an 1100 point lead. The course around the park was flat and fast with excellent underfoot conditions but fairly long courses made each race a proper challenge. More photos from Mark Easton

The scorers in the U11 boys team that came second were Jacob McCall (7th), Isaac McCall (9th) and Kit Dixon (13th) and they were backed up by Luke Coultate in 17th. The next match is at Campbell Park, Milton Keynes on January 15th. There were 29 Chiltern Harriers running for their schools at Newquay Tretherras School, Cornwall on Saturday in the ESAA Schools Cross Country Cup Final. Bleak weather and a muddy course made for challenging conditions. There were 27 schools in each age group – three each from nine regions around England - and the highlights were a win by the Dr Challoner’s Grammar Intermediate Boys team, and individual second place for Archie Pinder of Chesham Grammar in the same age group. Junior Girls

The DCHS team was 14th, Wycombe High 22nd. Intermediate Boys After a win in this competition as a junior team two years ago, there were hopes that the team, which was almost identical, could get amongst the medals again. And so it proved thanks to committed runs from Daniel Munn (7th), Alex Hughes (10th), Max Baxter (24th), Isaac Jessop-Tranter (37th) and Ethan McCall (47th). The scoring foursome recorded 78 points, ahead of Eastwood Academy on 90 and St Albans Schools on 116. A great, and rare, achievement by the lads to win two titles.
