BRAN TUB RELAY RESULTS
A big thank you to all marshals, refreshment helpers and coaches, without whom the bran tub could not have taken place. Sue Steve's report After a 2020 where the Bran Tub Relay had to be done virtually, it was great to get back to a real life event on Sunday on the traditional 1450m circuit round Devonshire Avenue, Chesham Road and Hervines Road. And the 2021 edition was a classic with a great turnout, some excellent times and the event’s first dead heat. On a dull, mild day conditions were good for running and an entry of sixty-five meant a competitive thirteen-team start line. As always the event was a big team effort with many parents helping out with marshalling, refreshments and race admin. Each team of five featured one two-leg runner so six legs in total. At the end of six legs where the lead changed hands several times, it ended up being a battle between Alden Collier’s Green team and Oakley Denson running for Soraya Lockwood’s Pink team. Alden and Oakley couldn’t be separated crossing the line so a tie ensued. The Green team was Alden (3.57), Sammy Bennetts (4.22), Matt Clifford (4.54), Charlie De Sousa (5.27), Nia Clarke (5.33) and Alden 4.01 on leg six. Pink team times were as follows – Oakley (3.58), Will Shield (4.16), Kara Gorman (5.08), Soraya (5.18), Jack Rogers (5.34) and Oakley 4.00 on the final leg. Third team in was Emily Alderson’s White team where the double leg runner Seb Mills ran 4.20 and 4.24. Emily ran 5.05, Alfie Clifford (4.48), Tom Ford (4.53) and Ellie Shield (5.28). Lost property from Bran Tub- one pair grey Sonneti track suit bottoms, age 13-15. Please email Sue at [email protected] if they belong to you. Comments are closed.
