Happy New Year, Race Report fans. Here at Race report HQ we are wishing you a 2023 that is full of the things that you enjoy, and all the best in your sporting endeavours. We’re also hoping it stops raining at some point ahead of Campbell Park…. A quick well done to all who took part in county cross country Championships this weekend. Look out for a report to follow, but in the meantime a huge thanks to our very own Doug Smith who coordinated the Bucks Champs yesterday in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. It was a beautiful, but tough course on a fairly squally day. We do not underestimate the contribution of the organisers, officials and marshals in those circumstances. Hywel Thomas braved the wind, rain and Grand Union Canal in the gruelling opener of the annual ultra calendar - Country to Capital. The event takes in some 43 miles from Wendover to Little Venice. Hywel finished in a brilliant time of 6.54.56, ably supported by Harriers along the way. Meanwhile, in parkrun news, there were course PBs for Charlie de Sousa (21.22 at Black Park) and Jay Grigson (24.21 at Alderley Park), plus a first placed finish for Mairead O’Rourke at a slippy, slide Church Mead (25.15). I also wanted to make a special of Ben Hannen and David Saul, both of whom earned themselves parkrun milestones over the holiday season. Ben hit number 50, and David broke the 250 barrier! Well done, everyone!
COMING UP LOCALLY: the next Chiltern League of the season at Campbell Park. (Apologies, I need to do some updating of the Club Calendar. Feel free to send me links to any events which you think should be included.) Comments are closed.
