Although overall numbers at the Championships were down on previous years, Chiltern Harriers had a good presence at the Bucks County Championships at Oxford Horspath at the weekend. There were several wins, medallists, and personal bests. Conditions on Saturday were cool and windy but Sunday saw warmth and sunshine. Saturday U13s The Girls 100m final saw Zoe Partridge second in a PB of 15.21 with Bethan Lloyd narrowly fourth in 15.32. In javelin Zoe again gained second place with 16.53m with Bethan third with 10.77m. The long jump saw a good Chiltern turnout with Kara Gorman third (3.74m PB), Nia Clarke fourth (3.73m PB), Zoe Partridge fifth (3.71m PB), Bethan Lloyd seventh (3.33m), and Maya Davis eighth (2.60m). The 1500m saw a Chiltern 1-5 with Kara Gorman victorious (4.56.6), Maya Davis second (5.16.16), Nia Clarke third (5.18.78 PB), Holly Knott fourth (5.37.00 PB), and Soraya Roughton fifth (5.42.15). U13 Boys long jump saw Like Coultate fourth in 3.82m and Kit Dixon sixth in 3.42m. There was another good turnout in the 1500m – Luke was again fourth in 5.17.42, Kit sixth in 5.24.20, Jacob McCall seventh in 5.24.26, Isaac McCall ninth in 5.30.17, Isaac Taylor tenth in 5.34.46, and Vadim Poltorak 13 th in 5.56.20. U15s Abi Masters began a successful weekend with a silver medal and a PB of 44.14 in the 300m final. In the 100m Abi and Isla Dalby reached the 100m final where Abi was again second in 13.48 and Isala seventh. The 1500m was a very good race and 19 girls faced the starter. Issy Robinson ran well in a high calibre race to be sixth in 5.02.40, Evelyn Wildman ran a PB of 5.04.75 to be seventh, Marlie Nkoane tenth in 5.07.66, Katie Allsop 13 th in 5.19.09, Megan Lockwood 16th in 5.31.31, and Zoe Aleksandrova 18 th in 5.55.51. Isla Dalby won long jump with a huge PB of 4.50m. Evelyn Wildman was sixth in 3.87m, Abi Masters seventh in 3.61m and Zoe Aleksandrova tenth in 3.46m. Dylan Rossi won 300m and there was a Chiltern 2-3 in 100m with Emile Morti running 12.57 and Taye Chan 12.63. Aarav Johnson was sixth in 14.97. Isaac Collier had a great run to win 1500m in 4.26.29 PB with James Holdsworth second in 4.31.18 PB, Aidan Suleyman fourth (4.33.07 PB), and Charlie De Sousa 13 th (5.20.70 PB). U17s/U20s/Seniors U17 Ffion Harman threw a PB of 17.96m to be fourth in javelin. Ffion was also fourth in 300m in 45.68 with Elizabeth Nickless running 49.57. Florence Lee-Rubis was second in U17 80m hurdles in a PB of 13.44 and followed this up with a win in long jump with a great new PB of 5.08m. There was a stunning run from U17 Lucy Wilkinson to win 1500m in a superb PB of 4.35.00. Lily Jessop-Tranter was third in 4.57.65, Allegra Massey fourth (5.04.56), Jo Snelling seventh (5.26.31) and Rebecca Lawson eighth (5.35.86) to complete a good Chiltern showing. Chisom Nwafor won U20 long jump with 5.85m but felt a tight hamstring and retired from the rest of the weekend. In 100m Sarah Cross ran 13.35 to be fourth Senior Woman with Charlotte Hewson fourth U17. Sarah won Senior women’s javelin with 32.73m. Isaac Jessop-Tranter was running well in U17 400m but tripped and took a heavy fall. He picked himself to finish in fourth in 58.45. Max Roughton was sixth in 59.65. Sam Attia was third in U17 men’s 100m in 13.26. Sunday U13s Zoe Partridge took a win in shot with 5.90m and followed this up with more gold in discus with a PB of 19.43m. Holly Knott was second with 11.64m. Bethan Lloyd (31.56) and Bronwen Harman (33.71) both scored PBs to be fourth and fifth in 200m. Holly won further silver with 1.20m in high jump, and Nia Brown won bronze with 1.15m. Bethan Lloyd (14.70 PB) and Bronwen Lloyd (18.20 PB) took gold and silver in 70m hurdles. U15s Abi Masters picked up her third silver of the weekend in 200m with a PB of 27.72. Again the U15 girls middle distance was good with Issy Robinson, Evelyn Wildman and Lydia Cross all making it through the heats, Evelyn and Lydia running big PBs of 2.28.64, and 2.26.34 respectively. In the final Issy was fourth in 2.24, Evelyn fifth in 2.30 and Lydia sixth in 2.37. Ryan Allbrook won bronze in 200m in 27.14 and was fourth in long jump in 4.56m. The 800m saw Mattie Gemmell seventh, Dylan Rossi eighth, Theo Roughton ninth and Eddie O’Brien tenth. Theo was third in discus with 14.45m. U17s/U20s/Seniors Ffion Harman won silver in 300m hurdles in a PB of 48.60 with Florence Lee-Rubis fourth in a PB of 49.62. Florence was second in high jump with 1.40m. Ffion was fourth in 200m in a PB of 28.43. Sarah Cross won senior shot and was third in senior 200m in 29.09. Rebecca Lawson won bronze in U17 triple jump with a PB of 8.36m. Lily Jessop-Tranter won silver in 800m with 2.23.96 with Alice Peckham fourth in a PB 2.30.80. In U20 men’s 800m John Nickless was third in 2.02.01 and Tom Askey sixth in 2.10.09.
