On Good Friday Nick Hughes organised a small cross country event for his group, now restrictions have eased. The meeting acted as useful preparation for those athletes that will be competing in the final Active Training World cross country at Merchant Taylor’s School on April 10th. RESULTS
There was some good racing on the private and scenic grounds of Chenies Manor with tough courses. A big thanks to those at Chenies Manor for their cooperation. A small number of athletes from Cookham Running Club and Wycombe Phoenix also took part. The weather was good and all enjoyed the chance to get back to some real competition. The age groups involved ranged from U11 to U17 and there were wins for Ellie Danner (U11 Girls), Jack Martin (U11 Boys), Emily Ford (U13 Girls), Alex Hughes (U13 Boys), Zoe Gilbody (U15 Girls), and Archie Pinder (U15 Boys). Some races featured close battles with Ellie Danner a few seconds ahead of Kara Gorman; Jack Martin just holding off Charlie Quantrill and Felix Danielli; and Emily Ford just two seconds ahead of Lily Jessop-Tranter. Archie Pinder headed an U15 Boys race of high calibre with Euan Pinder in second and Oakley Denson third all running strongly. Other Chiltern names on the podium were Nia Clarke (U11G third), Izzy Martin (U13G third), Kody Gilbody (U13B second), James Holdsworth (U13B third), Maddie Hughes (U15G second), Angus Stoneham (U17M second), and Thomas Askey (U17M second).
