Several Chiltern athletes took part for their schools in the English Schools Cross Country Cup Final at the Grammar School at Leeds on Saturday. The highlight was a victory for the Dr Challoner’s High School Senior Girls team, composed entirely of Chiltern athletes. See Senior Girls race on Vinco
There were several local schools that had made the final, with hefty contributions from Chiltern Harriers. On fast, firm, gently undulating courses the weather was dry so good conditions for fast running. Junior Girls DCHS featured good efforts from Evelyn Wildman (42nd) and Maya Davis (63rd). Maya had been ill all week and would normally have been much higher. The DCHS team was 18th from 27. Junior Boys The DCGS team was a creditable fifth, helped by good efforts from Charlie Quantrill (15th), Felix Danielli (41st), Isaac McCall (95th) and Eddie O’Brien (131st). Luke Coultate had to pull out with illness. Inter Girls Alice Peckham was second Chesham Grammar scorer in 54th place in the team that came 20th. Inter Boys All five DCGS boys in the team that finished eighth are Chiltern runners. Alex Hughes was 13th, Daniel Munn 44th, Rory Hilton 58th, Aidan Suleyman 78th, and Mattie Gemmell 136th. Senior Girls The DCHS Senior Girls had great runs to secure a win with 71 points, ahead of Bradford Grammar on 84 and Thomas Telford, Shropshire on 86. Maddie Hughes had a great run to be second with Frankie Baxter fifth, Ellie Shield 15th, Lesedi Nkoane 49th and Hannah Ashby 60th. The Wycombe High team that came eighth featured good efforts from Jo Snelling (66th), Tia Lomas (78th) and Sofia Lomas (80th). See Senior Girls Race on Vinco Senior Boys The Chesham Grammar team did well to be 12th, helped by strong runs from Archie Pinder (23rd), Euan Pinder (40th), and Sammy Bennetts (57th). The DCGS team were badly affected by illness and injury and only fielded three runners. Isaac Jessop-Tranter was 101st and Max Baxter 130th but Thomas Askey (injury) and Thomas Redmond (illness) could not run. Tom Emery was 28th running for Harrow School. Comments are closed.
