Well, there certainly is gold in them thar Chiltern hills. Today, Sunday 15 August, saw some absolutely stunning performances at the Burnham Beeches 10k and Half Marathon. Aran Davidson led the race home in the half, in an awesome 1.12.25. Joining him with podium places in the half were: Mike ‘Tiny’ Turney - 1st in age category in 1.23.29; Steve Field - 2nd in age category in 2.22.46. Whilst in the 10k: Neil Turner was 3rd overall in 36.34; James Palmer - 1st in age category (and 5th overall) in 37.06; Katie Royals - 3rd in age category and a brand new PB of 45.29; and Philip Lewis - 3rd in age category in 1.03.10. Joining that lovely lot were (Half): Jonathan Coutts (1.48.03); Tamsin Finch (2.01.52); Mark Fry (2.00.27); Fiona Kelleher (1.46.45); Miriam Kempson (1.58.47); Philip Lovelace (1.43.03); Paul McCarthy (1.37.33); Tom Picket (1.27.26); Tom Powell (1.33.06); David Saul (1.56.11); Tom Wright (1.35.46); Andy Hickman (1.40.45); and in the 10k - Richard Lloyd (55.51). What a truly fabulous set of results and turn-out for the Harriers. Congratulations all!
Continuing the gold rush theme, Ian Lawson was victorious in the 10k at RunFest at Lee Valley, in a time of 38.53. He was joined by fellow Harrier Kingsley Nanton in 43.39. Meanwhile, Patrick Barrett took part in a vey different kind of event: the Cotswold 62 10km swim (!). Representing Chiltern Tri, Patrick completed the event in 4.05.11…. makes me tired just thinking about it. And finally, in parkrun events yesterday, Saturday 14 August, there were 1st place finishes for: Katie Repper (Torbay - 19.18); Thomas Askey (Shelton Mallet - 17.23); and Charlie Wood and Emily Hollis were King and Queen of Gadebridge (17.55 and 22.58, respectively). On the PB front, Stuart Real-Slavicky earned himself a course PB at Ricky: 21.14, complete with double buggy. Neil Walker, also at Ricky, came away with an all-time PB of 19.38. There were also all-time PBs for: Rebecca Lawson (24.04 at Reading); Abi Askey (22.00 at Shelton Mallet); and a hatrick of PBs for the McCalls at Cassiobury Park (18.22 - Ethan; 21.25 - Jacob; and 21.55 - Isaac).
