A small band of seven Chiltern Harriers braved grey and muddy conditions at Fairlands Valley Park in Stevenage on Sunday to contest the Herts Cross Country Championships. Tom Ford led all the way in the very short Under 11 boys race to take county gold as a first year. Sister Emily Ford battled well over a much longer 3k lap in the Under 13 girls race to finish tenth and is under consideration for place in the Herts team at National Inter Counties in March.
The Under 13 boys fielded a complete team of three. All ran well with Leon Doran leading the way in fourth. Archie Pinder was sixth and Euan Pinder eleventh to secure team silver. All three are in the frame for Inter Counties. Ben Hunter worked hard over an increasingly muddy 6k circuit in the U17 Men’s race for 11th, and Hannah Wardley completed Chiltern interest in the Senior Women’s race coming a creditable 18th.
