On Sunday 9th, the Herts Cross Country Championships took place at a new venue, Stanborough Park in Welwyn. The course went down well with athletes, parents and coaches, undulating, varied and good for spectators. A still, cool day marked a big improvement on the deluge that featured in Saturday’s Bucks Champs. There was a good deal of success for Chiltern athletes, despite being a small crew, the highlight being a win for Hannah Wardley in the Senior Women’s race. Hannah was not the only winner however, as the first race on the programme with Chiltern interest saw a comfortable win in the U13 Boys race for Tom Ford. Next up was Emily Ford in the U15 Girls race, who ran very well to be second on a long course. The U15 Boys saw a good run from Euan Pinder for silver and Hari Mistry had a strong race to be 11th. Callum Powell did not finish, racing after a long lay-off, and Archie Pinder was injured.
Emily Alderson ran in the U20 Women’s race and did well to be bronze medallist. Hannah Wardley ran in the Herts Champs as an age group athlete and two years ago was 18th in the Senior Women’s race. Hannah has made significant progress in that time and took the title this time by nearly a minute. Comments are closed.
