Indoor Season Round-Up

The indoor season is well underway and Chiltern athletes have been taking to the boards.
 
Lee Valley December Open
U17 Jemma Thomson was first to get her indoor season going on December 5th with an excellent 300m PB at Lee Valley of 42.77
 
Lee Valley New Year Open
January 2nd saw several Chilterns in action. U17 Chisom Nwafor ran a 60m PB of 8.07 and followed this up with a  good 200m of 26.10. Dayo Akinjobi (U17) and Henry Wendt (U15) tackled the sprints with Dayo recording 8.24 (PB) for 60m and 28.33 for 200m. Henry ran PBs of 9.00 and 30.21.
 
U17 John Nickless ran a  good PB of 54.75 for 400m. Middle distance runners Oakley Denson (U17) and Isaac Jessop-Tranter (U15) got their seasons going in 800m – Oakley ran 1.57.91 and Isaac 2.05.73.  Three U15 girls tackled 800m – Lily Jessop-Tranter (2.37.88), Ffion Harman (2.44.53) and Florence Lee-Rubis (2.44.75).
 
BMC Sheffield
Oakley made the trip to Sheffield to run in the BMC meeting there on January 9th running 1.58.07 in the C race. Senior Man Harry Cox was in the A race running a good time of 1.55.19.
 
Be Fit Academy meeting
Senior Women Sarah Cross was ruthlessly consistent at an open meeting at Lee Valley on Jan 9th, running two 60m races, both in 8.29.
 
SEAA U13/U15/U17 Championships
Several Chiltern youngsters took to the boards in the Southern Championships at Lee Valley on the weekend of January 15th/16th. U17 Jemma Thomson tackled 200m and ran 26.66 to be second in her heat and go through to the semis, but her 26.7 there was the fastest time not to get through to the final. U17 Mila Luker logged a long jump PB of 4.57m to be tenth in Pool A.
 
The U17 men’s 800m saw a strong Chiltern presence. Oakley Denson won heat 1 in 2.03.29 with Felix Palmer making his indoor debut with 2.17.01. In heat 2 both Isaac Jessop-Tranter (2.02.58) and John Nickless (2.03.12) both made it through to the final. In the final Oakley was joint second in a tight finish in 1.55.6 (PB), Isaac fifth in 2.02.00 and John sixth in 2.02.88 (PB).
