The indoor track and field season got going on Sunday and several Chiltern Harriers were in action at the Lee Valley December Open. Plenty of Chiltern athletes competed in more than one event to set some early season benchmarks. The 60m was the most popular option, with all athletes getting two races. U17 Finn Hobson logged 7.47 and 7.50 in his two efforts while U13 debutant Liam Cooke ran 9.71 and 9.78. U23 Sarah Cross scored a huge PB of 8.01 and backed it up with an 8.03.
Several U15 girls took part in 60m. Jemma Thomson was fastest with 8.32 (PB) and 8.40. Also in PB form were debutant Kayla Best (8.65 and 8.73), Mila Luker (8.78 and 8.84), Sophie Habgood (8.85 and 8.90) and Sofia Lomas (9.60 and 9.72). Jemma went on to run an indoor PB in 300m of 43.58. Tia Lomas also ran an indoor best of 47.91. U13 newcomers Liam Cooke and Tayte Fahey ran 600m, setting marks of 2.07.91 and 2.08.50. U15 Jo Snelling ran a 600m PB of 2.05.8. U15 Noah Hobson went over 60m hurdles and recorded 10.23 (PB) and 10.65 while U17 Jess Cook ran 11.73 (OB) and 11.81, and U15 Jo Snelling 12.02 (PB) and 12.21. In the field U20 Rhys Arnold high jumped a PB of 1.70m. Several athletes took on long jump: Finn Hobson (U17) 5.37m, Noah Hobson (U15) 4.52m (PB), Tia Lomas (U17) 4.38m, Sophie Habgood (U15) 3.80m (PB), Sofia Lomas (U13) 3.52m (PB), Pippa Holt (U13) 3.28m (PB), and Tayte Fahey (U13) 3.15m (PB).
