Chiltern Harriers had good representation at the London Mini Marathon on Sunday. Young athletes race in the early morning on the final stretch of the marathon route. The course was shortened from it’s usual three miles to a 2.6km route making it a much different type of race – boys and girls in the U13, U15, and U17 age groups took part, either for their region in the UK, or their London borough. In the U13 boys race Tom Ford was running for the South East and finished in 48th place in 9.37. Tom has been away from running due to covid for several weeks and did well on his return. The U15 boys race featured three Chiltern athletes all running for the South East region. Archie Pinder was highest placed in 22nd, running 8.18. Alden Collier was well paced until the final 600m and finished in 8.19 in 25th place. Euan Pinder was 39th in 8.29. U17 Maddie Hughes took a fall near the start but recovered to run 8.52 and finish 29th. Also in the U17s Alice Brown (Ealing) and Ellie Shield (Westminster) were representing their London boroughs. They finished close together, 37th and 38th respectively, both logging 10.06. Oakley Denson ran in the U17 boys race and was 60th in 8.10. Comments are closed.
