Good Evening, Race Report fans. I hope you have managed to enjoy some sunshine, or at least some dry weather this weekend. We have been loving it here in Race Report HQ, where the tulips are starting to look very fine indeed.
Kicking things off with parkrun, CHAC had a nice ‘three of a kind’ yesterday with first placed finishes for Maddie Hughes (18.15 at Ricky), Ben Hannen (21.56 at Church Mead) and Your Humble Race Reporter (22.29 at Church Mead). Meanwhile, Claire Dickinson took on a very different, and much much muddier kind of event at the Maverick Buckinghamshire. The event took in some 1900ft of climb, and some super slippy trails, in a half marathon route starting and finishing in Princes Risborough. Claire clocked a time of 3.01.15.
And finally, in marathon news, there were some literally BLISTERING performances at today’s Manchester Marathon. Fiona Kelleher came away with a brilliant PB of 3.20.32; James Tugwell finished in 2.58.42; Sandra Reynolds - 3.18.50 (and 3rd V50); and Mike ‘Tiny’ Turney - 2.54.30. Mike not only came away first in his age category, but earns himself an England ‘Masters’ vest at the upcoming Chester Marathon. Well done, you Wonder-break-through-the-wall-ers!!!
NEWS JUST IN (because I am unobservant, not because it's live): Ali Young earned herself a new 24-hour PB on the track (?!) at Crawley. She racked up a total distance of 139.507 miles, and was - seemingly - very happy most of the time...
COMING UP LOCALLY: Ibstone Circle 5 and 10k, the London Marathon, Last Friday of the Month 5k and ‘Run the Claydons’, MK Marathon, Buckingham Half Marathon, Long Marston Cricket Club 10k, Marsworth 10k, Marlow 5, Run Prestwood 10k and our very own Pednor 5.
If you don’t plan to run the Pednor 5 (perhaps you’ll be recovering from marathon-ing), then why not volunteer to help and give something back to the Club. Speak to Trevor Davies if you want to know more.
Check out the Club Calendar for more details on all of these events and more.
