Spring is definitely feeling like it did pre-Covid, like the season of road racing. And Harriers didn’t disappoint this weekend. We’ll kick things off with parkrun events from yesterday, Saturday 1 April: there were first placed finishes for Yours Truly at a muddy Church Mead (Amersham) in a time of 22.54, and for Aidan Suleyman in a far more glamorous-sounding Groeneweide, South Africa (19.58). Richard Quantrill was rewarded with a course PB of 20.27 for his efforts at Rickmansworth. Moving on to today, Sunday 2 April, Finola Watkins smashed her marathon debut in Paris, running a time of 3.41.45. In Brighton there were fab marathon runs by Matt ‘Marathon Man’ Channer (3.48.05), Mark Fry (4.23.40) and Robert Barnwell (5.56.45). Ollie Jackson completed the 10k option in Brighton, in a very speedy 36.56. In half marathon news, Amber Stubbings completed the popular Reading Half (2.29.34 according to strava, official results not yet available). Congratulations to Nigel Dickinson, who did his very first half marathon ever, in a great time of 1.57.32. Alex Paul came away with a PB of 1.21.14 from the London Landmarks Half, as did Tim Dawson (1.32.36) and there was a great run by Jennifer Webb (1.57.07). Well done, everyone!
