Hello Race Report fans! It’s been a really hectic couple of weeks in this Reporter’s life and I am glad to be home, even if I do feel a bit like I’ve been run over by a bus. We’ll kick things off with a result from earlier on this month. Patrick Ahern, James Repper, Nick Hughes and Neil Turner were out in sunny Ibiza at the start of May, competing in the World Multisport Championships. Nick and Neil took on the duathlon event, James and Patrick - the aquathlon. Following a poor start in the sea swim, Patrick Ahern cruised his way to become World Aquathlon Champion for his age group, putting all those Pednor loop training runs to good use in a 20.49 5k. Well done to you all! Moving forward in time to this weekend, we’ll start with parkrun results. Aran Davidson finished in first place in Rickmansworth yesterday, in a time of 16.18, while Nikolay Kumchev earned an all-time PB of 24.42. Victoria Lucas ran her way to a course PB at Wycombe Rye (24.46). Today saw great turnout from Harriers at local events. (Please note: all of the following are ‘strava times’ rather than official times). At the Marlow 5 (mile), Ade McCormack led the Club home in a time of 36.44, joined by Miriam Kempson in 40.46 and Tamsin Finch in 43.12. In the Prestwood 10k Adam Shute was in podium position in a blistering time of 35.43, joined by: Ben Hannen (43.02); Sylvia Moss (47.42); Christine Taylor (48.19 - a course PB) and Lyndsey Bill (53.06). Slightly further afield, Jennifer Webb completed the Oxford Town & Gown 10k in a time of 56.43, while Jessie Keighley made her return to racing, with a buggy (!), to finish in a very respectable time of 50.42. And finally, Finola Watkins earned herself a hard-fought PB at the Great Bristol Half, clocking a time of 1.40.32. Well done, ladies! Don’t forget: if you want to send me a story, or photos, for Race Report, you can! Please email me at [email protected] . COMING UP LOCALLY: Night of the 10,000m PBs, the first Southern Athletics League match, Blenheim 7k, Ridge Off Roader, Marsworth 10k, Last Friday of the Month 5k, the Coombe Hill Fell Race, Penn 7 and the St Albans Half.
