Race Report 20 October: parkrun, Hertfordshire Riverside Half, Abingdon Marathon and more20/10/2019
Good evening fans, from Race Report HQ, where we continue to experience some technical issues, so apologies for any results that may have gotten lost in the ether of the Internet Before we continue with this week’s results, a flashback to last weekend’s Royal Parks Half Marathon, where Abi Chapman had a great race to come home in 2.05.16.
On Thursday 17 October Matt Channer took part in the latest Running Miles timed event at Rickmansworth Aquadrome. Matt finished a fantastic second position overall, completing 32.8 miles in 5.29.29. Well done! Abi Chapman’s purple patch continued into this weekend, and a new all-time parkrun PB at Rickmansworth yesterday (19 October). Abi ran a PB of 26.07, complete with double buggy! There were also all-time PBs for: Alicia Bushell (and a first placed finish to boot!) at Black Park – 19.50; Thomas Askey – 17.37 at Rickmansworth; and Marlie Nkoane – 21.37 at Northala Fields. Finally, Kara Gorman and Belinda Chassebi both completed their parkrun debuts (26.30 and 28.38 at Rickmansworth and Gadebridge, respectively), whilst Ian Lawson reached the milestone of his 250th parkrun at Black Park (20.31). Moving on to today, Sunday 20 October, Jason Trimmer was first V50-59 in the second Sydney Trail Series race of the season, completing the 24k course in 2.12.14, whilst wife Carolynn was 2nd in the V40-49 category in 3.05.04. Also hitting the trails was Mike ‘Tiny’ Turney, who took on the picturesque Frieth Hilly 10k, completing it in a time 41.10 (strava time). Meanwhile, there was a good deal of action on the roads today. In Cambridge Ade McCormack completed the Town and Gown 10k in 45.14. Rebecca Nkoane clocked an impressive 1.28.09 in the Hertfordshire Riverside Half Marathon. And finally, there were some great results at the Abingdon Marathon. Husband and wife Richard and Sylvia Moss successfully finished their first ever marathon, battling through to come home in 3.22.46 and 3.53.10, respectively. Joining the Mosses was Steve Boyden in a great time of 4.59.50 (strava). Well done, Harriers!
