After a busy few weekends of marathon-ing, it’s something of a quieter Race Report this evening, albeit quite an exotic one! This weekend all the road running action comes from the Iberian peninsula. In Portugal Sylvia Moss was 1st in her age category in a chip time of 1.47.19 in the Alegro meia maratona de Setúbal (or the Setúbal Half Marathon) today, taking in a scenic route from the city to the hills. Meanwhile, Grant Whitaker was in action in the Madrid Half Marathon, clocking a strava time of 1.37.16. Yesterday, Darryl Hanstein slipped and slid his way around the Chiltern Ridge 50k - a route starting from Berkhamsted Castle and taking in Ashridge, Ivinghoe Beacon, Coombe Hill and Whiteleaf. Darryl completed the event in a very respectable 4.47.09. In parkrun news Aran Davidson was first at Cassiobury Park, in a tightly fought battle with Ash Finch, finishing in a course PB time of 16.23. At Black Park there were course PBs for Charlotte Docwra (20.54) and Oliver Webb (22.56). PLEASE book your tickets to the Club Awards Evening & Social. With less than a month to go until the event, ticket sales are not where we would want them to be. So, if you’ve been sitting on the fence, please take yourself off of it! More details here. COMING UP LOCALLY: graded open track meets at Watford and Oxford, Tring Running Club’s Invitational Evening, BUCs Track & Field Champs, the MK Marathon, Run Prestwood, Marlow 5, the Buckingham 10k, Black to the Trails, Bucks Track and Field Champs (entries close 6 May), Compton Downland Challenge, the Green Belt Relay, kick off of the Southern Athletics League, Blenheim 7k, Youth Development Leage and the Ridge Off-roader … and - of course - our very own Pednor 5. Entries will close on 4 May. If you’re not able to run this year, chat to Trevor Davies about volunteering. More events, and details of training on the Club Calendar (click on a calendar entry to find full details of the event, including location and relevant links). SAVE THE DATE: Marathon Done, Need a race to look forward to! The hugely popular annual Stragglers' River Relay is on Sunday, 1st September . Last year, CHAC had three teams with one team coming third. Let's do it again. It's a baton relay race, run over five stages, totalling 26 miles, from Boveney to Kingston-upon-Thames. Surplus funds are returned as donations to charities selected by the winning teams. Last year £2,390 was shared by seven charities. Entry forms are distributed over the summer. In the meantime, join the Stragglers River Relay Whatsapp Group if you would be interested in joining a CHAC team! The Stragglers have one request, if you cannot run, can you marshal somewhere along the route? Let me know. NEXT STEPS: Join the River Relay WhatsApp Group. Comments are closed.
