Good Evening, Race Report fans, on what feels like the first Sunday of the 2024 Spring road running season, with Chiltern Harriers putting in some sterling performances at the Watford Half. However, we’ll start off with a couple of mentions from yesterday’s parkrun events. There were course PBs for Lizzie Barraclough (21.08 at Woodhouse Moor) and Isaac Taylor (21.35 at Black Park). The Harriers were pretty tightly packed on the hilly Watford course, clocking some really impressive times. Leading the Club home was Adam Shute, who finished 9th overall, in a time of 1.15.29. He was joined swiftly by Aran Davidson in 1.15.45, and then: Mairead O’Rourke (1.37.15); Fiona Kelleher (1.37.07, despite a bad back!); Katie Royals (1.38.24); Abi Askey (1.39.19); Ed Wright (1.42.16); Susan Scollan (1.43.08); Matt Lawrence (1.44.15); Ade McCormack (1.48.24); Rik Edwards (1.56.23); and Lyndsey Bill (2.02.30). Well done to all of you on a pretty hilly course! IN OTHER NEWS: I am excited to say that Chiltern Harriers will be joining forces with ‘Welcome to Running’ to collect donations for the Chiltern Food Bank on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 February. Chiltern Harriers will be collecting donations during the usual senior training session, Tuesday 20th, 7pm at Star Yard, Chesham, and enjoying a variety of food-based warm ups; Welcome to Running will be doing likewise during their session at Lowndes Park, Wednesday 21st, at 09:30am. You’re welcome to join both sessions if you like, or, if you can’t but would still like to contribute, just ask a friend to bring something along on your behalf. Many thanks to Julia Aliaj for organising :-) Junior and senior runners, as well as parents, partners and family all very welcome! COMING UP LOCALLY: the Buckinghamshire Schools Cross Country, the final Chiltern League match of the season, the Bramley 10/20, the Harrow Hill 10k, our Food Bank Run, Last Friday of the Month 5k, English National Cross Country Championships, Winslow 10k and the first of the Gade Valley Harriers marathon training runs (at a new location). Check out more on these events and others on the Club Calendar. AND FINALLY: you should have now received notification of the Club’s Annual General Meeting, taking place on 4 March. It is worth noting that if you want to put forward a resolution for discussion at the meeting, the deadline for doing so is tomorrow, 5 February.
