Good Evening, Race Report fans, from a sunny spot in the Chilterns. I hope you’ve been enjoying the onset of June as much as we have here in Race Report HQ. It’s another really interesting week for results, with Harriers competing in a huge variety of events. We’ll kick things off with Richard Slade’s performance in the Iffley Festival of Miles, held yesterday at the track where Roger Bannister famously broke the 4-minute mile in 1954, and our Richard wasn’t too far off that pace, clocking a fantastic time of 4.16 in his event. Well done! Meanwhile, in a very different kind of event Harriers battled the heat and the hills of the Coombe Hill Fell Race today, a 7km event organised by Tring Running Club. Official times are not yet available, but according to Strava, Ben Hannen came home in 34.59 and Claire Dickinson in 47.54. My apologies to those whose results I’ve not been able to sniff out. Abi Askey completed the Weybridge Half Marathon in a time of 1.43.35. Moving on to triathlon news, Gill Baxter completed the sprint event today at Blenheim Triathlon, in a total (strava) time of 1.53.33. Our very own superwoman Hannah Wardley was once again flying the flag for Team GB in the European Triathlon Age Group Championships. Despite poor water quality taking out the swim, Hannah was still pleased to finish 2nd in her age category and 2nd woman overall in 2.23.03 - a really brilliant outcome. And finally, there are some great parkrun stories to tell this week. There were all-time PBs for: Alan Crozier (19.03 at Ricky), James Malin (22.04 at Ricky), Emily Ford (18.46 at Cassiobury Park, and also first female); Steve Mayes (20.37 at Fleetwood Promenade, and also reaching his 50th parkrun); and finally Charlie Stone (18.31 at Wollaton Hall). Fiona Kelleher was first female at Rickmansworth in 20.42, and Andy Wiseall got himself a course PB of 21.53 at Sandringham.
