Well, Happy Heritage Day from Amersham. And our Harriers have been making some history of their own with their running. The Hughes took Hyde Park by storm on the evening of Wednesday 6 September with Alex coming home second overall in RunThrough’s ‘Chase the Sun’ 10k race, in a blistering time of 34.28. He was joined swiftly by Nick, first V50 and third male in 35.37, and Maddie - first female in a time of 38.24. I think they must have caught the sun at that rate! Moving on to parkrun results from yesterday, Saturday 9 September, there was an all-time PB for our very own Lyndsey Bill at Rickmansworth in a time of 24.07, meanwhile Jack Turner earned himself a course PB at Church Mead (20.46). Meanwhile, down in deepest darkest Kent Rich Slade joined others from the South Bucks composite team (Wycombe Phoenix and Chiltern Harriers ARC) to clinch promotion in the final match of this year’s Southern Athletics League. Rich took part in the 3000m, clocking a rapid (strava) time of 8.49. Jenn Webb braved the heat in one of the Phoenix timed events alongside the Thames - this one was the Queen’s Memorial Run - and notching up a total of 19.7 miles over 3.15.48. Finally, three Harriers were part of the world’d biggest mass participation event today - the absolutely iconic Great North Run. Sylvia Moss led the team home in 1.43.14, joined by Christine Taylor (1.51.04) and Jo Murray (2.09.23). COMING UP LOCALLY: the Leighton 10k, the Franklin Fields charity 5k and our very own Shardeloes 10k. Check out the Club Calendar for more. If you’re unable to run Shardeloes this year, then why not help out on the day. Talk to Trevor Davies if you’d like to volunteer. Otherwise, hurry up and get yourself registered :-)
