Happy Easter, Race Report fans from a quiet Race Report HQ where we are enjoying the fact that the rain went away and the sun came out to see out the long weekend. I hope you have had a truly egg-cellent time and have eaten copious amounts of chocolate. The great thing about Easter is the plethora of races and this year was no egg-ception (no, the egg jokes will not get old). Things kicked off on Good Friday, 7 April, with the St Albans 10k and the Maidenhead Easter 10 mile races. In St Albans Katie Royals battled through recent injury and illness to clock a time of 44.04, joining Kingsley Nanton (42.50) and Jo Culver (53.05). Mike ‘Tiny’ Turney lead the Harriers home in Maidenhead, coming 2nd in his age category in a time of 1.01.45. He was joined swiftly by: Sylvia Moss (1.13.53); Helen Cholawo (1.17.07); David Saul (1.30.54); Jennifer Webb (should that be W-egg?) (1.31.47); and Robert Bardwell (2.03.54). On Saturday 8 April, Hywel Thomas took on the mighty South Downs Way in the Centurion South Downs Way 50. The event - which takes in steep, chalky trails from Worthing to Eastbourne, could not have gone any better, with Hywel clocking a great time of 9.12.04. Bring on the 100 mile egg-ition later on this year! Moving from 50 miles to 5k, and parkrun news, there were first placed finishes for Kara Gorman (18.27 at Ricky) and Yours Truly (22.10 at a lovely, dry Church Mead) as well as a course PB for Harriet Lemon at Church Mead (29.22). Finally, a brave showing of intrepid Harriers were in action in the rain and the mud this morning at the Beaconsfield 5 mile trail run, organised by our friends at Burnham Joggers. Neil Turner led them home, finishing 3rd overall and1st in his age category in a time of 31.36. Joining him were: Ben Hannen (34.25); Patrick Ahern (36.31); Ade McCormack (38.25); Sylvia Moss (39.54); Jennifer Webb (45.31); Nigel Dickinson (45.37); Rich Lloyd (45.59); Claire Dickinson (46.44); Harriet Lemon (47.05); Tamsin Finch (49.24); Trevor Brawn (51.03); and Philip Lewis (1.00.06). Well done, you stalwart bunch! COMING UP LOCALLY: Flitwick 10k, Ibstone Circle 5 and 10k, the London Marathon, Last Friday of the Month 5k and ‘Run the Claydons’, MK Marathon and our very own Pednor 5. If you don’t plan to run the Pednor 5 (perhaps you’ll be recovering from marathon-ing), then why not volunteer to help and give something back to the Club. Speak to Trevor Davies if you want to know more. Check out the Club Calendar for more details on all of these events and more. Comments are closed.
