Good Evening, Race Report fans. I hope you are well and have had a relaxed weekend. Starting with parkrun news, there were course PBs yesterday for both Neil Turner and Pete Yates, who ran 17.57 at Aylesbury and 27.46 at Church Mead, Amersham, respectively. Today was, of course, the Great North Run and there were three Harriers in action up on Tyneside. Christine Taylor earned herself a new half marathon PB of 1.46.00, and there were fabulous runs by Dave Bellamy (1.52.34) and Richard Moss (1.30.35). Sticking with the half marathon theme, let’s look back briefly to last weekend and London’s ‘Big Half’. Chiltern’s runners were led in by Charlie Wood (1.26.06), who was joined by: James Grant (1.41.39); Alice Higgins (1.51.21); Javid Khan (1.30.23); Kate Paxton (2.08.59); Jennifer Webb (1.56.09) and Grant Whitaker (1.37.17). Well done to all our half marathon heroes. Yesterday, Hywel Thomas and Rashi Wanninayake were hitting the (very) high points, taking part, respectively, in ‘The Lap’ of Windermere and Switzerland’s Jungfrau Marathon. For Rashi it was the 12th of her ’12 in 12’ marathons in support of the Samaritans, taking in more then 6000ft of climb. Hywel clocked a very impressive time of 10.34.49 for the 45 miles and some 8,600ft of climb. I’m exhausted just thinking about it! Finally, in Triathlon news, Amber Stubbings took on the Olympic distance in today’s Reading Triathlon (1500m swim, 44km cycle and 10.8km run). Official results are not yet available, but Amber clocked strava times of 30mins54, 1hr52 and 1hr18. Great effort!
