Race Report: I spy with my little eye races beginning with... F

24/1/2022

Good news, Chiltern Harriers, Race Report is here to brighten up your Monday evening! I hope you all had lovely weekends and started off the working week in style.
Before we get into this week’s running, a quick hark back to last weekend. On Sunday 16 January, lovely Rashila Wanninayake completed her sixth marathon in as many months at Sherwood Pines, as part of the Rasselbock series of virtual events, and her own personal ’12 in 12’ challenge. Incidentally, you’ll now see she is the official ‘face’ of their Spring event … here. On Saturday 15 January, Seb Lawrence earned himself a parkrun course PB at the challenging Wendover Woods, in a time of 26.53.

Moving on to this weekend, there were some brilliant parkrun performances on Saturday 22 January. Katie Royals earned herself an all-time parkrun PB at Tooting Common, in a time of 21.16, as did Annabelle Hilton (23.13, Black Park), and Aran Davidson (an obscenely awesome 15.56 and 1st place finish at Rickmansworth). Claire Dickinson was rewarded with a course PB at Black Park (26.22), whilst Sylvia kicked off a weekend of running excellence by celebrating her 100th parkrun at Kingston (22.13).

Yesterday was a day for races beginning with F. And we’ll start with the Farnborough Winter Half Marathon, which witnessed Richard Slade’s fabulous debut to half marathon racing - a 5th place finish and a time of 1.09.06. Meanwhile, on the Fitch Way Hywel Thomas clocked a 50k PB of 4.25.17 (strava time) as part of the Fitch 12hr timed event. And finally, over in St Albans there were some great results in the Fred Hughes 10 (mile), organised by St Albans Striders. Richard Moss was the first Harrier home (net-time-wise) in 1.07.42, joined by wife Sylvia (1.17.03), Matt Channer (1.17.17) and Rasmi Nanda (1.24.53). Well done you Flippin’ Fabulous Foot-runners!

COMING UP LOCALLY: Watford Half Marathon, Mornington Chasers’ Regents Park series, Gade Valley Marathon Training Runs, the fifth and final Chiltern League match, Bramley 20/10 and the Wokingham Half Marathon. Check out the Club Calendar for further info.
