Race Report is coming live to you from the sofa, as the Lionesses kick off against Germany in the final of the UEFA European Championships. So I beg your forgiveness - in advance - for even more typos than usual. And, quite frankly, what a great set of results I have got for you. ![]() I have to start with Patrick Barrett. Five ironman triathlons in five days… 2.4 miles swim, 112 miles cycle and 26 miles run every day for five days. It is truly an unholy-sounding ‘Quin’. And Patrick did it, raising funds for our friends at Arctic One in the process, in a total time of 91.21.33. He also won the event and completed his personal 12-ultra-event challenge in support of the charity. What a legend. If you want to support his cause visit his JustGiving page. Leaving these shores and heading to sunny Spain, our own Pablo Fuentes took part in the 9 Carrera Nocturna Las Nieves 2022 in Benacazón on Friday 29 July - an undulating, 10k night race in hot conditions. Pablo enjoyed the event, clocking a very respectable 46.04 (strava time). Yet further afield, Luke and Glen Martin took on the USA at the New York Road Runners Team Championships 5M today, 31 July. Luke came home in 31.55 and Glen in 40.50. Well done, both! On 23 July, Tim Dutfield completed XNRG’s tough Chiltern Challenge 50k event in a total time of 06:51:20, whilst Tamsin Finch took away 2nd in her age category and 5th overall in the 25km option, with a time of 2.58.11 in a closely-run race.
And finally, in parkrun news there was a bunch of course PBs on Saturday: Martin Allen (23.48, Ricky); Becs Nkoane (19.22, Wycombe Rye); Neil Turner (18.06, Aylesbury); and Philip Lewis (31.58, Church Mead). Katie Royals and I were both pleased to be first ladies (21.01 at Ricky and 21.44 at Church Mead, respectively); and, finally, congratulations to Aidan Suleyman for an all-time PB of 19.41 at the Plymvalley event in Devon. COMING UP LOCALLY (yes, I have finally updated the Club Calendar): Bearbrook 10k, Stopsley Trail Race, Ealing Eagles 10k, Burnham Beeches 10k and Half and the Last Friday of the Month 5k.
