Good Evening, Race Report fans, from a most dramatic and stormy Race Report HQ. Whilst I think everyone who ventured out to run today deserves a medal, if you were racing you deserve no less than a big, shiny cup (and something warming to put in it)! Those brave souls were Ian Lawson and Mairead O’Rourke at the Abingdon Marathon, and Hywel Thomas at the Beach Head Ultra Marathon. In Abingdon Ian clocked a time of 3.31.58, getting an early (and wet) qualifier for the infamous Comrades Marathon under the belt, and Mairead was not far behind in 3.36.59. Hywel took on some 50-odd km and 4,500ft of elevation at Beachy Head, completing the event in a hugely respectable 5.37.27. In yesterday’s parkrun news: there were first placed finishes for Ali Young (19.53 at Rickmansworth) and Louise Fry (20.49 at Wycombe Rye); an all-time PB for Charlie de Sousa at Rickmansworth (20.52); and a course PB for Tamsin Finch at Church Mead (29.18). I’d also like to say a huge congratulations to all taking part in the Southern Cross Country relays yesterday at Wormwood Scrubs. It sounds like there were some really fabulous runs by teams and individuals alike. Keep watching for Steve Perkin’s report. COMING UP LOCALLY: Last Friday of the Month 5k, the Fleet 10k, the Marlow Half & 7, the second Chiltern League match of the season, Bierton 5k & 10k and the Rugged Radnage.
