South of England Road Relay Championships at Aldershot

25/9/2023

Chiltern Harriers had a good day at the first big competition of the autumn season, the SEAA Road Relays, back at its original home of Rushmoor Arena, Aldershot.
Chiltern took home two team medals with the U13 Girls winning silver and the U15 Boys bronze. Kara Gorman won the prize for fastest lap by an individual U13 Girl. There were also many good performances elsewhere.
It was a bright sunny day at Aldershot and there was a big turnout of the strongest endurance clubs in the south. The U13s and U15s ran a 3k circuit with the U17s going 4.6k.
U13 Boys
There was a great battle between Chiltern’s A team and B team in the U13 Boys race. Luke Coultate led off for the As and ran 11.43 to Issac McCall’s 11.50. On the second leg Jacob McCall ran 11.58 with Jack Rodgers coming back with 11.51. So a great battle ensued on leg 3 with Kit Dixon (12.32) just edging it for the Bs from Isaac Taylor (12.33). The B team was 36th, the A team 37th. Also running well was Albert Rushton with 13.28 in an incomplete C team.

U13 Girls
Kara Gorman ran strongly to win leg 1 of the U13 Girls race and her 10.33 remained the best time of the day in the age group. Nia Clarke had a great run to keep the team competitive on leg 2 with 11.40 and Maya Davis ran a gutsy last leg of 11.30 to push the team up to silver medal position. The B team of Annie-Rose Quantrill (12.52), Bea Robinson (12.05) and Carys Jones (13.42) did well to be 25th.

U15 Boys
Aidan Suleyman continued his great recent form running 9.42. James Holdsworth kept the team in touch with 9.58, and Isaac Collier ran a great last leg of 9.47 to ensure bronze medal position. The U15s showed their strength in depth with three more teams doing well. The B team were 17th - Tom Ford (10.00), Charlie Quantrill (10.16), and Felix Danielli (10.53); the C team 35th – George Mawby (11.18), Eddie O’Brien (11.06), Thomas Reynolds (10.19); and the D team 55th – Zach Cleary (11.12), Charlie De Sousa (11.35) and Massimo Schiavi (12.26).

U15 Girls
The A team of Issy Robinson (10.51), Lydia Cross (12.28) and Marlie Nkoane (11.21) were 20th with Evelyn Wildman running 11.49 in an incomplete B team.

U17 Men
Alex Hughes ran a great first leg for the A team of 14.12 to finish second. Isaac Jessop-Tranter (15.14) and Euan Pinder (15.48) completed the team that finished 10th. On the B team Callum Powell ran 16.11, Rory Hilton 16.56, and Daniel Munn 16.07 to be 35th, and Hari Mistry (18.35) and Jack Turner (17.48) were an incomplete C team.
