South Bucks took an unexpected win at Winchester on Saturday in the penultimate match in the Southern Athletics League series and are in a promising position to achieve promotion to the top division for next season. In a very closely fought match, the Wycombe Phoenix and Chiltern Harriers athletes worked hard all afternoon and came out victors with 269 points to Winchester on 266, Crawley 255, Bournemouth 205, Reading 186 and Croydon 180. The South Bucks team featured 16 men and 16 women across the age groups from U17 to V55. Men Kieran Shah was third in A string 100m and second in B string 200m whilst Josh Parry was third and first in the B string races. Raihan Lenoire won A string 400m with Jean-Louis Plaatjies third in B string. Alex Aldred had a successful day winning both A string 800m and 1500m. Myles Caddell won B string 1500m and A string 2000m steeplechase. In 5000m Ash Finch was fourth in A string, Dean Childs second in B string. Barrie Marsden was second in A string 400m hurdles. Ryan Wells, Fraser Kilsby and Ed Morris got through a massive workload in the technical events. Ryan won A string discus, long jump and triple jump, and was second in B string high jump, third in A string 110m hurdles. Fraser was second in A string pole vault, fourth in A string shot, first in B string triple jump, second in B string long jump, fourth in A string javelin. Ed was second in both B string 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles, fifth in B string shot, third in B string discus, and third in B string javelin. Kesegan Suthakar was fourth in A string hammer, Alex Wells third in B string. Ian Parkinson was second in B string pole vault. The 4 x 100m team of Ben Sharpe, Josh Parry, Fraser Kilsby and Kieran Shah were third in 46.10. Ben Sharpe ran in non-scoring 100m and Jean-Louis did non-scoring long jump. Women Christina Paulsen was second in A string 100m, fourth in A string 200m. Sarah Cross was third in B string 100m, Sian Vico second in B string 200m. Carys Vico was third in A string 400m, Amy Hogbin second in B string. Liv Brown won A string 800m and 1500m steeplechase, Zoe Doyle was second in B string 800m and won A string 1500m, Ivy Uhart third in B string. Tilly Firth ran 1500m non-scoring. In 5000m Ellie Shield made a good debut at the event, second in 19.16 with Jenny Roberts winning B string and Ellie Bates running well in non-scoring. Lisa Fitzpatrick was fourth in A string 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles. In the field Lisa was fourth in A string high jump, triple jump and long jump, Sarah Cross was second in B string triple jump, fifth in A string shot, fourth in B string high jump. Hannah Wells was third in B string shot, fifth in A string discus, second in A string hammer, third in B string javelin. Lyla Griffin was third in B string discus, and third in B string hammer. Melody Ball was third in A string javelin and did non-scoring hammer. Mixed The mixed 4 x 400m races were great fun with A string and B string wins for the South Bucks quartets. The A team of Cerys Vico, Fraser Kilsby, Sian Vico and Raihan Lenoire ran 3.48.6 and the B string of Ivy Uhart, Alex Aldred, Amy Hogbin and Jean-Louis Plaatjies 3.58.3.
