Several Chiltern youngsters were taking part in the Southern Inter Counties championships at Oxford Horspath on Saturday. This is a high calibre meeting with some of the strongest counties in the country involved. On a very cold but sunny day, Buckinghamshire won the U17 Women’s race convincingly with two Chiltern runners amongst the scorers, and two others in the top thirty. The U13 Girls also featured a strong Chiltern presence with all four Buckinghamshire scorers coming from the club. Kara Gorman was tenth, Evelyn Wildman 24th, Nia Clarke 33rd and Carys Jones 66th. The team were sixth.
Tom Ford had a good run for Hertfordshire in the U13 Boys race coming 18th and was second Herts scorer in the team that came fifth. Amongst the Bucks team that was eighth, Charlie Quantrill was second scorer in 38th, Felix Danielli third scorer in 57th and Jacon McCall fourth scorer in 82nd. Isaac McCall was 106th. The Bucks U15 Boys were twelfth and saw a good Chiltern turnout: Rory Hilton was second scorer in 71st, James Holdsworth third in 74th, and Aidan Suleyman fourth in 89th. Isaac Collier was 105th and Soren Fox 109th. Alex Hughes started the race but soon had to pull out after being very badly spiked early on. The Bucks U17 Women had a great race with Maddie Hughes first scorer in fifth, Frankie Baxter second scorer in seventh. Also running very well were Allegra Massey fifth Bucks in 17th and Ellie Shield sixth Bucks in 28th, emphasising the strength of the county in this age group currently.
