Chiltern District Schools Championships
This year several schools did not take part in this meeting but there were several good performances by Chiltern athletes. The meeting was at Hillingdon On Wednesday July 7th.
Year 8 Boys
Rory Hilton had a great run to win the 800m in 2.26.0 and Daniel Munn had a strong win in 1500m in 4.48.8. Johnny Tunstall won shot with 10.37m.
Year 9 Boys
Ethan McCall won 800m in 2.22.7 and was second in javelin with 24.95m. Max Baxter was second in 1500m in 4.48.7.
Year 10 Boys
Oakley Denson won 800m in 2.06.8 with Sammy Bennetts second in 2.14.7. Sammy added a win in 1500m in 4.32.9 and Oakley was third in javelin with 22.95m.
Year 7 Girls
Issy Robinson won 200m in 31.6 and added another victory in 1500m with 5.55.5.
Year 8 Girls
Georgia Potts was second in 200m in 30.9. In 800m Olivia Clarke won in 2.35.8 and Lucy Wilkinson was second in 2.42.2. Jocelyn Davies was second in 1500m in 5.39.4 and also in high jump 1.21m. Olivia Clarke was fourth with 1.09m. Lucy Wilkinson was third in javelin with 14.26m.
Year 9 Girls
Kayla Best was second in 200m in 27.8.
Year 10 Girls
Gabi Riley won 80m hurdles with 14.7.
Thames Valley Harriers and BMC Open Meeting
Later on Wednesday 7th Several Chiltern athletes across the age groups ran in the open meeting at Wormwood Scrubs, hosted by Thames Valley Harriers and featuring an hour of British Milers Club Regional meeting.
PBs for U13s Evelyn Wildman (2.35.45), Katie Allsop (2.45.87) and Charlie De Sousa (2.50.60). U15 Callum Powell was just outside his PB with 2.23.01, U15 Lucy Wilkinson ran a season’s best 2.44.52, and U17 Alice Brown ran a good 2.29.66, just outside her season’s best.
Senior Richard Slade won the 3000m with a PB of 8.51.60. U20 Emily Alderson ran 11.35.00.
Adam Day was fourth in the A race with 1.54.09, Thomas Askey was second in the D race in 2.03.45,
U17 Matthew Evans ran a PB of 4.39.30 to be third in the C race. In the D race Senior Hannah Wardley ran an eight-second PB of 4.52.03 to be second, just ahead of Ian Lawson (Vet 50) who ran 4.53.72. U15 Lesedi Nkoane ran 5.06.79 and U20 Alicia Bushell 5.15.31.
Southern Athletics League – Horspath
A few Chiltern athletes made the trip to Oxford, Horspath for the second Southern Athletics League match on the 11th. V50 Ian Lawson improved his 1500m time to run 4.50.7 whilst U17 Matthew Evans made his 3000m debut logging 10.34.0. U20 Alicia Bushell also made a debut, in 5000m, recording a creditable 19.40.8. Vet 40 Fiona Calder (T20) tackled several events and logged 19.4 in 100m, 44.30 in 200m, 1.44.2 in 400m, and 1.323m in long jump.
U23 Cameron Reid ran in a high quality BMC 1500m race at Eltham on the 14th, coming seventh in 3.57.82, a new PB by 11 seconds.
