The track season is hotting up with several events taking place in the middle of the month. Chelmsford Open Isaac Jessop-Tranter dipped under Junior Boys 800m English Schools qualifying for the second time with 2.04.33 at a track night in Chelmsford on June 9th. BMC Grand Prix Three Chiltern athletes were in action in the prestigious British Milers Club Grand Prix at Watford on Saturday 12th. All were tackling 800m. In the Mens E race U23 Harry Cox shattered his PB with a win in a new best of 1.49.79. Harry will go to the England Athletics U23 Champs with confidence. Next up was U23 Cameron Reid in the F race who started well but faded in the last 80m to a solid 1.55.43. Finally Senior Man Will Perkin completed his third race in a week in the D race with his opening 800m of the season. Will came home in 1.52.95.
Herts Schools Track and Field Championships Whilst most Chiltern U15 and U17 athletes were competing at Milton Keynes in the Bucks Schools Champs on Saturday 12th, a small number took part for their schools in the Hertfordshire Schools event at Jarman Park, Hemel Hempstead. Jemma Thomson ran a great race to win the Inter Girls 200m title in a great time of 26.70. In the Junior Girls Izzy Martin won the bronze medal in the 800m in 2.30.5. In Long Jump Mila Luker did well to record a PB of 4.42m to be sixth but back pain spoilt her 100m chances and after a good heat Mila was seventh in the final in 13.8. South of England U20/Senior Mens Championships Adam Day won his first major title with a great win in the SEAA Senior Men’s 800m at Bedford on Sunday 13th. Adam held off Ted Higgins from Bexley to take the win in 1.54.47. In a field of only four Seb Mills was fourth in 2.05.82. Part of this meeting features the SEAA U15/U17 3000m Championships. Isaac Jessop-Tranter finished in silver medal spot in the U15 race in 9.54.97, a very good time on an extremely hot day. Comments are closed.
