Track Round-Up - Late July

Dave Clarke Mile Extravaganza
The Dave Clarke Mile Extravaganza saw 14 strong mile races at Wimbledon on Wednesday 28th. In addition to recording a mile time, the meeting also allowed a 1500m split to be recorded. Harry Cox ran in the second fastest race (10 of 11) and was in third at 1500m in 3.58.63 but finished well to take the race in 4.13.67.
 
Hertfordshire County Championships
Five Chiltern athletes took part on Saturday 31st at a wet Watford in the first day of the Hertfordshire Track and Field Championships. In the Senior Women’s 5000m Hannah Wardley ran 18.51.92 for silver, a little off her best set in May. Olivia Edwards was fifth in the U17 Women’s 400m in 65.48 in her debut at the event.
All the other Chiltern athletes tackled 800m. Tom Ford won silver in the U13 Boys race in a PB of 2.30.43. Emily Ford was in the U15 Girls race and won bronze in 2.36.13. Callum Powell was sixth in the U15 Boys race in 2.28.65, a few seconds off his PB.
 
Berkshire County Championships
U15 Dayo Akinjobi had a good day at Eton in the Berkshire Championships, coming sixth in 100m in 13.09 on Sunday August 1st after coming seventh in 200m in 27.04 the previous day, both PBs.
