Our virtual 5 mile relay saw 84 harriers, both juniors and seniors, compete over their own circuits in a bid to run the fastest time possible for their team. And the runners did not disappoint. The vast majority of people ran significantly faster than their predicted times, some by nearly 5 minutes, showing that lockdown training really is paying off for all. The winning team with a combined time of 2:18:30 comprised Will Perkin (26.44), Paul McCarthy (33.26), Tessa Passey (37.28) and Carla Willars (40.52).
They were closely followed by Finn O'Brien (29.42), David Howells (33.22), Charlotte Docwra (36.43) and Ella Watson (39.52) in a combined time of 02:19:39. Third place went to Charlie Stone (29.53), Andy Hickman (32.38), Heken Real-Slavicky (36.35) and David Saul (41.27) in a total time of 02:20:33. The fastest leg came from Aran Davidson (25.57), who was only runner to break 26 minutes. He was closely followed by Will Perkin (26.44), Harry Cox (27.35) and U20 Cameron Reid (27.44). James Repper was the fastest V40 runner in 28.57. In total, no less than 12 runners broke 30 minutes, including two U17s, Finn O'Brien (29.42) and Charlie Stone (29.53). Not to be overshadowed, there were some very impressive runs from our female athletes too. Ellie Bates recorded the fastest time in a very quick 31.29. She was followed by Sian Thomas (31.55), who it was good to see back running in club colours, and Ali Young (32.26). There were also impressive runs from U17s Holly Henderson (33.13) and Abbie Henderson (33.49). A special mention should also be given to Mairead O’Rourke who posted a very impressive 35.05, as she makes a quick return to fitness after giving birth. We hope to have another virtual event up and running in a few weeks so watch this space… PS. Check out Katie's awesome mascot entry below.
