Perfect still, warm conditions were in evidence at the latest Watford Open. Thirteen Chiltern Harriers made the trip and there were several PBs across the races. Two ran BMC 800m, ten ran 800m and one 3000m.
The evening started with 40 minutes of top class British Milers Club action and two Chiltern athletes took part. U23 Adam Day was first up in the Men’s 800m C race and had a solid run to be sixth in 1.53.50. Fellow U23 Harry Cox was a late call-up for the 800m B race and pushed hard to be fourth in 1.51.01. 800m Race 2 This saw a talented quartet of Chiltern girls run well. Olivia Edwards had her best race of the season to win in a season’s best 2.30.11. In third, fellow U17 Charlotte Docwra ran a PB of 2.31.58. Ellie Shield (U17) ran 2.33.35 and promising U13 Lydia Cross had a good run to log 2.35.97. Race 6 U15 Callum Powell ran strongly and with determination to run a good PB of 2.21.42, over a second off his previous best. Race 7 Ethan McCall ran a PB of 2.16.17 in this one after a fast start. Race 10 U20 Louis Peterson recorded a big PB of 2.01.26 to be fourth. Race 12 U15 Alden Collier was bumped at the start and at the bell but still managed a win in 1.58.33. A cleaner race would have seen him close to his 1.55 PB set last week. Race 14 U20 Max McGarvie had a great run to take over a second off his best in second place with 1.55.33, and U23 Seb Mills ran a season’s best 1.59.55. 3000m Senior Man Aran Davidson had a gutsy run in a high quality race 2 to log a PB of 8.58.99.
